I certainly agree that we should evaluate games and their parts by what they are, not who or what is and isn't present. I think that there has definitely been a trend of trying to throw out an equality-grabber in many games, usually for gay and women's rights. It reminds me of a few years ago, when EA Sports' NHL franchise added creatable female characters, because some teenaged girl wrote about her offense that female characters couldn't be created. This was within a game taking place in a men's hockey league. As I previously stated, an all-female cast in Final Fantasy brought forth no complaints, but despite what is nearing 30 years of releasing games with diverse casts, the makers of Final Fantasy are now having their beliefs in equality questioned over one title. Are people playing games to enjoy them, or to look for a chance to be offended?
