As for the story itself, it tells the tale of the Archadians: a ruthless conquering empire that has invaded nearly every kingdom in the land. With most of the independent states gone, the beautiful township of Dalmasca remains as one of the few unclaimed cities left until Archadia claims the Dalmascan royal city of Rabanastre. This invasion is what sparks the main protagonist Vaan into rising up against the foreign forces; as they were the ones who killed his only remaining relative. Before he has the opportunity to relieve the new Archadian consul of his treasures, however, Vaan is caught in the middle of an important battle and the first moments of a new war. It's in this chaos that Vaan stumbles upon the Dalmascan princess Ashe and things begin to snowball from there.

ok.

As long as it doesn't play like FF X-2 I'll be very happy.

no they totally redid the battle system, no more random encounters IIRC

I don't mind random encounters...I just can't stand mission based stories....

I found they did a wonderful amazing job in FF X. Best FF I ever played.

Loved the characters and the storyline.

Then they had to change everything good about FF X and turn FF X-2 into a real disaster.

Is it necessary to play all the previous FF releases prior to playing the latest? There's no way I'm starting from the beginning...

Each FF is independent of each other (with the exception of FFX and FFX-2)

Excellent. I'm looking to play some new non-FPS games in the near future. I'm kinda getting burned out on them. FF looks like as good a candidate as any for me.

Actually, you can still play FFX-2 without having played FFX

There is just a huge story that you won't be aware of when playing FFX-2 ;)

Now if only i can just motivate myself to finish off FFX-2. In chapter 3. Must get to chapter 5.

FF is rpg (role playing game).

If you can't stand those types of games, no matter how good the story line is in FF, you won't enjoy the game.

On the other hand, if you like rpgs, I'm sure you'll absolutely love Final Fantasy ;)

Dude, Knights of the Old Republic is NOT a rpg ;)

Looks more like a fire person shooter fps!

In an rpg you have a whole bunch of statistic such as health, strength, dexterity, agility, defense, etc

You arm yourself with armor, weapons, amulets, rings, magic, etc to defeat enemies. It's all role based (hense rpg) and I personally find lots of fun! It's very hard to be disappointed in the story line of final fantasy (except with the possible exception of ffx-2)

Jero, you just described KOTOR! It must be more similar than you think. ;)

my apologizes, I went to the KOTOR website and saw a screenshot that looked like it came from Jedi Academy. So I thought the game was just like it.

And having just finished Jedi Academy, I know it's not rpg ;)
