Final Fantasy X for PS2 shipping early

<< For those who want to play before buying, Square Electronic Arts is holding a one-day only event on December 15 at the PlayStation store in the Sony Metreon in San Francisco, Ca (located at 4th & Mission streets). Gamers also will have a chance to win prizes and receive a free Final Fantasy-related promotional item. >>

Hell Yeah!!!!! That's across the street from my work!

hehe go to the website and check out the voice acting...it's not horrible Resident evil style...but it still kinda makes me cringe

guess i'm just too used to solid snake and his awesome voice over 🙂

Finished FFX already.

bye-bye Halo.

Time for some high quality game!

<< Final Fantasy X was a mammoth success, selling through 90% of the 2.14 million units it shipped in the first four days, becoming the first PlayStation 2 title to reach the 2 million-unit mark. >>

let's see, how many units did Halo sold? 10% of that?

What's that mean? You finished the Japanese version and it blows away Halo?

exactly, you won't believe its animation sequences, its superior to Final Fantsy movie.

hey bluga how long did it take you to beat it? and are there a bunch of sidequests? i always love those...especially the ones which help flesh out the characters

from IGN:

<< First Impressions

Final Fantasy X is, of course, unspeakably beautiful. You were expecting that, I'm sure, but it's worth mentioning again. Whatever you can say about the game design end of things, and I've said a little bit of it in my time, the series' creators include the absolute top of artistic talent in videogames today. It shows in every moment of the game, be it 3D, 2D, realtime, or pre-rendered. This game looks very, very good, and the effort it took to make it look that good is clearly in evidence.

it took me and my friend about a week. We're playing all day.

There're tons of sidequests, but we skipped quite a few.

yeah, too bad it's probablly full of lame FMV scenes, pitifully short, and totally linear. IMO the best FF games were on SNES and NES.

hmmm the fmv scenes are actually very nice...as long as they don't interrupt the flow of the game too much,

the snes games were better in the sense that they couldn't rely on fancy graphics to draw in new fans...but i'd have to disagree with you that the NES games were better than the PSX 7-9 games...the NES games were devoid of any real storyline at all...and there wasn't much character development :\

my favorite ff is actually FF7 ( i know most people like FF6 or FF4 the best)

You would think if they could manage to get it out 1 or 2 days before Christmas instead of 1 day after there would be a big sales difference.

You can either have a damn good story or a non-linear game. I've never seen a non-linear game with a damn good story. I enjoy FF games knowing the game will be linear and expecting an awesome story. I don't see how you can call the FMV scenes lame, unless you just can't stand a part of the game you are not playing. Most games have cutscenes though. Supposedly FFX has bridged the gap between FMV and Cutscene so that you can't really tell when it breaks in and out of them. While I agree the best FF game was on SNES, FF6, it doesn't hold a candle to Xenogears 🙂.

Needless to say, I CANT WAIT FOR FFX!

I find there should be a limit to the amount of FMV and cutscenes in a game. I think there were way too many included in MGS2.

I'll agree with that. There were a couple times in MGS2 that I just wanted to save and watch TV, but the dang cutscenes would last twenty minutes (ex. after taking the pics of MGS).

I like the FF games, but they are getting old. I don't doubt that many people still enjoy the games, and they are impressive looking, but they have gotten stale and boring in my opinion. That said, I'll probably still be giving this game a try and I hope I like it.

Bluga you are comparing apples to oranges, a launch title vs a game coming out for a system thats over 1.5 years old. But know what? Halo IS THE BEST SELLING LAUNCH TITLE EVER....

Period. End of Story.

Hah, 2million units is nothing in the console world. And for FFX being the first 2million seller on the PS2, certainly means the PS2 is off to an extremely slow start. I can already say the Xbox will have a 2million seller before the end of its first 12 months, and not the towards the end of 24...

LOL, like they're the same kind of game... I'm not saying Halo is better (I'm sure it's not), but why even say that when they're obviously completely different types of games?

I just hope it's not only movies... If I want to watch a movie, I'll rent a DVD.
