Final Fantasy VII re-release: For PC

One of those things I'll end up posting in both sub-forums due to the title and it's release state, but Final Fantasy VII is being re-released with some added content.

I searched and didn't find it, but my search skills suck. So hopefully not a repost!

Minimum System Requirements:

Microsoft Windows XP/Vista/7 (32/64-bit) • 2GHz Processor or faster • 1GB RAM •
DirectX 9-compatible graphic card
LOL!!!

Unfortunately they are not giving it any real graphics bumps to speak of, the trailer only showcases the cgi that was done at 3 different studios hence the differential in superdeformed and human like char animations.

Probably my favorite game all time right up there with Xenogears, I took A LOT of acid playing those games in my early teens. Life changing to say the least.

I probably put 100 hours into ff7 atleast 4-5 times. I recently got it on my android (HTC REZOUND) and modded the shit out of it using the gameshark codes, made the game really fun, and a quick playthrough.

What was your favorite Materia Combo!?

I liked the Final Attack + Phoenix, LIFE AFTER DEATH, FOREVER!!!

And Honestly, Who didn't mime the shit out of KOTR!?

Huh. I still probably have my old PC copy of it kicking around. Don't know if I would opt to pick this up. It's a huge time sink and I've got enough games to keep me busy for a while.

Psh, you just need to spend more money.

Find yourself stuck on a difficult section or lacking the funds to buy that vital Phoenix Down? With the Character Booster you can increase your HP, MP and Gil levels to their maximum, all with the simple click of a button, leaving you to enjoy your adventure.

I owned the old Eidos port for the PC, but I don't recall it being very good. Anyone else remember the specifics?

I have it for the PC, and actually it is the only copy I have. The port worked alright, but there are pretty much no options in the game.

So are they going to bump up the resolutions of the pre-rendered backgrounds, or do I need to lower my resolution down to 640x480?

The pre-rendered backgrounds were the ugliest aspect of the PC port; same thing for the FFVIII port. They were the same resolution of the PSX (320x240?), but stretched to 640x480. Unless they somehow have a better resolution this time around, I will probably skip this.

I don't want to sound like a troll but what is the big deal about FF7? Everyone seems to love this game but I thought the game was completely overrated. The story was nonsensical, and I have yet to ever met anyone who is able to legitimately defend and explain the game's story. The game's last act and ending were just completely random.

You had much better games growing up. All the people defending FF7 are old farts, and to them FF7 was the best thing ever from their childhood.

So in a sense, they're defending their dear childhood memories more so than the game.

In comparison to modern iterations of JRPG, FF7 is total crap. 😀

Go away troll.

True, FFVI > FFVII

Well, I consider FF6 for the SNES one of the best games of all time, not just JRPG.

Yeah, I liked the gameplay the best on V, and jobs were a big part of that. I don't think any FF game that I've played has been particularly amazing story-wise (though I'm sure some won't agree).

Of course, the best RPG on the SNES was Chrono Trigger.

The game was fun, but I kind of agree with you. This game made less sense than FF6 which also made little sense. Each subsequent Final Fantasy game made less sense to the point that I wouldn't touch a modern JRPG with a stick. Dragon Warrior 4 was my favorite JRPG, but FF6 is a close second. The original Dragon Warrior was the first RPG I ever played, so that series holds a little more sentimentality to me than any other.

I still don't quite get what Sephiroth's motivations were. And the over the top Twilight type drama the newer FF games have make it hard to get into the games. I did have fun playing the game though. I prefered FF6 (FF3 on the SNES), but I played enough to find and kill all of the Weapons in the game.
