Final Fantasy VII... platinum?

I broke out my copy of the PC version of Final Fantasy VII yesterday, and upon doing some searches for patches/graphical improvements I stumbled upon something called "Final Fantasy VII Platinum." Was it just a PC re-release or what? Did it have improved resolution or anything like that? I'm curious...

Thanks.

To answer your unsolved question, yes. Eidos re-released FF7 for the PC as a Platinum edition after it sold so many copies. It's just like how PS2&1 games are called Greatest Hits after they sell so many copies.

the platinum version might have fixed a few minor bugs but does not add any improvements to the games, what can you expect from a re-release, it would have been better if it was re-made. Here's a winxp patch for the game. I can't try it since I threw away my ff7 a long time along. This patch is suppose to improve graphics and allow the use of AA on a geforce4. Here

Thanks! I was never able to get FF7 to work on my GF2 in hardware mode. Hopefully this will fix things. Greatest Game EVAH!

Does any place sell this game cheap? I really really want to play this on the PC, but I don't feel like paying the inflated prices on eBay. I've been scouring the used pc game racks at stores, but no luck so far 🙁

I guess I could just go out and buy a PS One...

Good luck to ya...I have been searching for it as well, but I can't seem to find it in the bargain bin 🙁

You guys prompted me to reinstall my FF7 on PC. I am running Windows 2000 with ATI Radeon 8500le 64mg ddr. Is there anything I can do to update the game and make it more enjoyable on my system? Any patches? Does the WinXP update patch work on Win2K?

There are a few updates included on the CD. There is a "GeForce fix" that makes an option for Direct3D mode on modern cards, but it's really buggy on anything but an original GeForce. Some parts of the game go WAY too fast. Some cards show a million tiles with borders on which the 2D elements are texture mapped. The game is flawless on an old Voodoo 2/Banshee/3 🙂

BTW, my discs were DESTROYED by a neighborhood kids son before I could complete the game. I can upload pictures for proof of ownership if anyone would be willing to send me CD image files 🙂 (I know it's a four-disc game but PLEASE! This topic is the perfect place to ask...)

Yeah, I paid $12.99 for it... Twice already. Thnx though 🙁

I should have had it backed up. Makes you wonder why it's even legal to USE copy-protection technology, but not break it.
