Ok guys, I don't have the multipatcher......but I have all the separate parts.

You really need to check out these forums: http://forums.qhimm.com/index.php?board=3.0

There are a ton of cool mods for ff7 pc they are making.

I just reinstalled ff7, haven't played since 1998 lol. I'm having a blast replaying it with these mods. It works great. The main 3 you should get are the npc reconstruction project, ff7music, and high resolution patch.

NPC reconstruction: Link
Makes the characters look like the battle chars instead of the blocky lego style. Looks great!

FF7music: Link
Replaces the crappy pc midi songs with the original psx songs.

High resolution patch: Link
Let's you play at 1280 x 960 instead of 640 x 480.

Couple of pics with the NPC patch applied:

SWEET

OMG YOU ARE THE MAN!

tried the high-resolution patch, works fine. though if you are going to run it at 1280x1024, there will be a black bar at the bottom.

so far that is the only patch i applied, as the rest require a bit more things to do/install. more importantly, i really want to get the videos working! how the heck do i do that? but everything else, music, sfx, graphics, text, looks nice!

btw, i saved the 3 patches schwan posted, so in case those links ever go down (i doubt it), i have them saved on here.

And I'm a man.

I look forward to it! 😉

BTW make sure to patch the game with the official patch to version 1.02 before doing anything.

I put the 1.02 patch, then the high-res patch.. and all I get it a black screen. 🙁

Any ideas?

EDIT: The upside-down movie patch fixed it.

Edit: no it didn't. working on it..

Edit again: Yes it did. It takes a bit for the menu (NEW/Continue) to open, but it does. I had to set the resolution to 640x480 full screen for it to work.

This is taken from the FAQ on the forums I posted earlier.

"Problem: My movies play upside-down, or my movies don't play at all.

Solution: Download and install the upside-down movie patch here."

I actually think I might have installed this patch after installation.

Go into the ff7 configuration, and under graphics tab try checking "Nvidia" and then "TNT". That's how I've been running it. I think you must do this if you have an ATI card (which I do).

Edit: NM 🙂

I have an nvidia card. Is there an opening movie before the NEW GAME / Continue menu?

edit: *so many edits..*

Do you know where he got the mp3s for the ff7music patch?

edit: nevermind! I found it.. here. Extract the ff7mp3 folder and anything else you need from that.

i get the same thing. im running a geforce 3. i have unchecked tnt and nvidia so the 8-bit paletted textures will pass. i have no idea what the game looks like with the tnt and nvidia checked.

just installed the "upside-down movie" patch. i will see if it goes smoothly in a minute. i will try out the mp3s and the NPC replacements patches soon. probably tomorrow or maybe tonight if i have time.

The 8-bit still doesn't pass for me. =\ (In software or hardware mode)

I have a 6800GT, and I don't know how I'd enable that.

I gotta try installing those patches again. I was only able to get the XP patch installed. The resolution patch did not work for me before but maybe I had the wrong version.

thanks

No, No, No, No, No. You DONT pass the 8-bit pallet requirement. By checking the Riva/TNT box you tell the game to ignore that feature. Thats the reason you are able to use hardware mode at all. In the regular 1.0 version you couldnt do hardware if all the features didnt get a pass. Now you can. (You dont need to use pallets anyway, not when the game was designed to run on 8 meg video cards and you probably have 256.)

I have a 7900GTX and the game runs just fine with the 1.02 official patch and the hi-res patch.

Havent yet downloaded the mp3's or the dll's for the good music patch. The NPC replacement patch is a lot more complicated than I thought, but I will try to make it work.

You do have the wrong version. You have the XP patch.

Just install the official 1.02 and the hi-res patch, (and the upside-down movie patch only if you need it). It worked for me and I've got XP pro with SP2.

Ah.

Right now I have the 1.02 patch, the high res patch and the upside-down movie patch, applied in that order.

If you need any help with this let me know. It might sound intimidating, but it really wasn't that hard.

Go to this page: http://www.ficedula.co.uk/

You will need "LGP Tools" listed under "FF7 programs" on the left.

Also, grab the "ficedula.dll" also listed on the left. You will need that to make any of his programs work.

You should now be set. Just follow the instructions.

Schwan is right, it's quite easy. It's basically like unzipping character models, patching the models, and them zipping them up again.

Uhhhh.....
Guess what guys?
Its easy alright.
I did everything in order, ran FF7 and got a big fat error. The only thing that fixed it was replacing the char.lgp with the original.

Oh well.

Thanks for the help. Ran the official patch and was able to get the hi-res patch working. I was also able to install the npc remodel patch, looks so much cooler now!

I should start that game up again. I have like 3 copies of FF VII and I have FF VIII as well for PC. It was a great game. I'll have to try those patches out.

My system keeps crashing when I windows key/alt tab out of the game. Anyone experiencing this? I never have problems with other games or stability issues.
