Hey! I'm playing through FFVII and trying to pretty much complete it 100%. I have a Walkthrough, but there are a couple of things that it does not cover or not cover clearly.

First - Huge Materia.

To my understanding, you must master all green (magic) materia, then you can go talk to the green Huge Materia and get materia that will give you all of those spells, correct?

But then there is one green materia (shield) which is in the last cave. Can you go into the last cave, get it, and then come out?

Also, do the Huge Materia at Cosmo Canyon serve any other purpose?

I may post back with any other questions, but thanks in advance! :)

Correct. It will give you a master green materia which takes up one materia slot and has every green magic. Same goes for red and yellow.

Yeah you can leave the crater whenever you want.

Nope, they're just there to get you the master materias. However, you CAN miss them. Like the one in the rocket. If you don't put in the correct password (circle, square, X, X I believe) then it's gone for good.

I dont play this game but Ive always wondered how you can call something "Final Fantasy" and then start to produce sequals.

When will the fantasy really be final?

Sraaz didn't mention it, but you need the blue Huge Materia in order to get the master summon materia. The blue Huge Materia will give you the Bahamut Zero summon materia when you examine it if you already have both the Bahamut and Neo Bahamut materia.

Is that big patch for the PC version just a myth? I searched allo ver for it, and I can't find anything. It's *supposed* to update the graphics to 1280x1024, and other graphical enhancements. I think it's just a mean rumor though. Man I would love to play that game again though. :)

The only patch I knew of for the PC version was to update the game to be compatible with Windows XP. Without the patch the game will crash every time you try and start the Chocobo Races at the Golden Saucer.

I believe that patch is available from Eidos' site.

Try the usual "channels" for the PSX version and play it with ePSXe. Because emulator save states rule.

I wonder if the emulator will load it off of the PS1 CD. I'll have to mess with it this weekend. :)

They're not the same story, just same type of game. The only one that really has a sequel is FFX which is FFX:2

Kinda funny. The guy at Qhimm.com claims to have developed the patch. EIDOS just linked to it.

It's real, but everyone I know prefers to use the old discs with an emulator instead. Which sort of answers Fullmetal Chocobo's question (yes, it runs off the CD).

Then why not call it Continuing Fantasy?

"Final Fantasy"

It's not a rumor. I have it. The main characters all look much, much better (except in cutscenes, of course). Everyone else still looks like a Weeble.

Squaresoft was in a bad financial position when they made the game. It would either make or break the company, thus called Final Fantasy.

ChaoZ is exactly right.

And there is a 1024x768 patch, but it just repeats pixels. You cannot create detail when it was never there.

The purpose of the patch is that people made updated maps of the characters, so they are that resolution while the rest of the game is repeated pixels of 640x480.
