Well I think that about covers most of the must have games from the SNES (just include USA FF2 and FF3, Super Castlevania IV, Mega Man X, Super Mario Kart, and Chrono Trigger and the list is complete (well, I guess if you want to stay true to the era, TMNT: Turtles in Time, and Super Street Fighter 2: Turbo)).

Lufia 2, Mortal Kombat 2, Stunt Race FX....I know there are more

FF7 was the death of FF for me :\ I remember being sooooo excited, as the NES, SNES, and Gameboy FF games were some of my favorite games of all time. Then I got that, played it for a few hours, got depressed, put it up for a while. Pulled it down a year or two later with a strategy guide, slogged through it, and promptly took it outside and put it a hole that my dog at the time had a particular fetish for taking huge shits in.

As a fair rating, I might give it 5.5/10.

As a personal rating, comparing my previous FF game experience with FF7, I give it a 1.5/10.

@Arkaign

; _ ; FF7 was the first game I played in the FF series and I loved it. It made me play all the others too.

To this day I still think its one of the best turn based RPGs out there.
FF7 > FF10 or newer FF games, that did away with the open world/exploration.

These threads about the re-release prompted me to pop in my PSX version of the game into my PS3.

At first I didn't think I'd be able to manage due to the graphics on an LCD tv, but as I progressed it hooked me back in. I'm 4 hours in and plan on completing it after I move (which should be this Saturday), and playing when I can up until then.

I don't quite remember SO MANY grammar issues, but they're definitely apparent. Other than that, the game has aged well. I do believe the materia system is a major hook to actually wanting to fight. At first I was annoyed with having to fight so often, but then you compare it to how fast you actually level early on and you want to fight.

Later on when you're more powerful, fighting will be even better with more mature materia, variety, and party options. The story is pretty good so far, although as I play I remember the "twists" as I enter areas. So it's been long enough I don't remember much, but I am refreshed as the game continues.
