BTW, my bother-in-law owns a smog shop. The EPA rules over all of smog shits in this good ole US of A and California do take it further than most states regarding smog, but the 25 years shit was EPA mandated, and unless your car born on date was before 1975? You're SOL.
Ask your smog technician when's the last time he went for an update class. If he hasn't heard about it, he will soon and don't be surprised when that letter comes to you; not if, but when.
One reason they did it was because too many beaters were running around spewing smog and didn't fall into that "classic" category.
