Hey noobtastic, what is your BF2 name? Be on the lookout for "mrfatboy" :) I'll be the one that is teabagging you right after I knife you in the back :)

Good luck on your computer!

You can't have a name that's already been used?

BF1942 and BFV enable you to use any name you choose, even if it has already been taken.

I've used noobtastic in BF2 before (about a year ago when I played at a cyber cafe..)

I'm not familiar with the system....

I rather get the cheaper E6600 than an equal priced Q6600.

But I sincerely doubt I'll be able to wait that long (I start school and I have to have this computer ordered by the end of June. Plus the person who is ordering it wants to do it now.)

I think the E6600 is plenty for BF2 and BF2142, as well as any other future BF games.

Those are the only games I'll be playing anyways.

I need help with the ram. Suggestions?

edit: Even I were to get the quadcore, I'd have to buy a different mobo, PSU, and definitely and aftermarket cooler. In the end, the total will be more with the cut.

Only 23 days left until Intel slashed the price of the Quad Core Q6600 to $240! Or about the same price as the current E6600!

I'll probably end up getting the Quad Core because the intitial thought of easy funding kind of doesn't exist anymore. :(

I just found out today. Old people, no matter how rich = stingy.

*sigh*

Your grandmother may seem like an arse but maybe she wants you to be desperate enough to make it. Get too comfortable and you may not be ambitious enough.

I can't believe we spent all this time trying to convince him to be content with his final build only to find out he was going to build his system on an assumption someone was going to hand him some money. lol, maybe you feel lucky now you didn't post your photo on the boards. :)

You need to talk to Warren Buffet... he's 77.

</end quote></div>

It's easy for super-rich people to give away money when it doesn't affect them.

The 'Oracle of Omaha' Will Give Away 85 Percent of His Fortune

That still gives Warren a hefty 7.5 billion dollars left over.

Now, If I see him turn in 100% of his cash to charity, and handing over his $5000 suit jacket, then maybe I'll give him some props. Maybe.

I know people who are poor as dirty but still give more than half their income to help others. These people suffer economically for their generosity. Warren gets nice publicity and his stocks go up.

Your own words are... "Old people, no matter how rich = stingy."
Now you're back-peddling on that?

BTW, Where are your two polls?

You can edit them into your original post.

I read one of his posts where he said he was 12 years old 5 years ago. That makes him 17 years old.

Work at McDonalds dude! You'll meet cool chicks and get a work reference. Then you can "upgrade" your job to something a little better.

Of course, I only work in a factory so I don't have much advice for jobs.

I'm 15.

No work available in California. Odd jobs are given to illegals, and chains won't hire until you're 18 due to insurance issues.

No more mowing lawns or selling lemonade. *sigh*

I have $700 saved up, but I was hoping my rich grandma could pay for most of it (seeing as she suggested it, and is sinfully rich.)

Do you have a computer you want to modify? Maybe you could do that instead. Well, that's if you really want to spend on a machine.

When I was 13, I wanted one of those big "ghetto blasters". :)

I'm trying to knock down the costs of the build - seeing as I'm paying for everything. :D

I've compiled an AMD build and Intel build.

AMD

<a target=_blank class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="https://secure.newegg.com/NewVersion/Wishlist/PublicWishDetail.asp?WishListNumber=7313927&WishListTitle=second+budget+pc">https://secure.newegg.com/N......e=second+budget+pc</a>

$900 shipped (excluding moniter, I'm just using that as a money holder. It represents how much a moniter will factor into my overall budget. I don't actually plan on buying the moniter or any software from newegg if I'm the one who has to pay for it.)

Intel

<a target=_blank class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="https://secure.newegg.com/NewVersion/Wishlist/PublicWishDetail.asp?WishListNumber=6848348&WishListTitle=budget+pc">https://secure.newegg.com/N......istTitle=budget+pc</a>

$1000 shipped (excluding moniter)

:(

edit: I personally like the AMD system more than the intel.

I almost have urges to tell you to go with something upgradable. Like, if you paid less for the CPU and GPU now, you could always upgrade that next year.

I don't intend on doing any major upgrading.

If I do end up going the budget way, I wouldn't mind getting an sli mobo. Then I can pop in a second 7900gs when the price lowers.

My primary concern is bf2 and bf2142. When the next game comes out, and my cpu can't handle it - then I'll think about buying a new cpu.

The psu, case, mobo, and videocard look ok to me price and performance wise. My only question is which lower-end cpu's are better: amd or intel? I know intel definitely takes the cake for current models, but what about lower dual core set ups....like the 4800 or 5200 vs the E4300 or E4400.

Again, performance in bf2 is my only concern. The thing is, I'm having trouble identifying what specific cpus work better in the game (paired with [insert gpu here].)

It's awfully confusing. I really hate the idea of compiling and entire new set up due to lack of funds.

I feel for the Noob but this sounds like a soap opera.

"As sands through the hour glass, so are the days of our lives"

All he wants to do is get killed in BF2 :) Throw him a bone Grandma, buy him a computer before it's too late!

Hehe.

I own in BF2. I always it was my inability to aim (this based off many rounds playing desert combat) but after playing BF2 on a logitech gaming mouse and decently situated desk (my desk is super high, and my moniter is at nose level from the base) I discovered that my hardware was the true cause of my poor scores. Of course, I only played for about two hours....

I remember my best score being 43-12 on this map called Mashtur something. I always spawned as a medic, but usually opted out for upgraded guns from recently deceased soldiers. :D

When I get the game - give me your handle and xfire. Then I can warn you when I'm in the "specific-targeting mood" which is most of the time anyways.

I have a lot of people on my s**t list in BFV. The slight tk or even misspelling of my name in-text can get you on it.

Once you're on the list, you never get off. Ever.

Yeah see I was going to give you my BF2 name and the IP of our server but now I'm not sure if you're the kind of person I'd enjoy playing with.
