Filming of a movie is being done on the corner of my street and another street and i am living near the corner my street. Do the have real cops or are they just rent cops. Incase i need to honk for some reason so want to be sure who i am dealing before getting in there face. Also in the notice it says about some equipment getting on lawn. Can they legally put stuff on your lawn with your permission?

so anyone had movie filmied right next to them if so did u do anything crazy, stupid? P.s i just reread it and it will be on saturday which i think is stupid everyone going to be home

They probably think your street corner is quaint or something.... but filming on saturday is just inviting trouble...

exactly what i was thinking about saturday. I think i am going to call my lawyer tommorow and find out what legal rights do i have and how much noice i can make to disturb them with out crossing the legal line.

ROFL!!!!!!!!!!!!! That is the perks of having a lawyer.

I would do the same thing. Or in fact I would go with a bunch of my friends and just cause HAVOC!!!

Wow... why don't you go up to the director and bitch about it? How much will it actually inconvenience you? Is it just one day?

It depends on the production and the location, but it's often cheaper to get real cops in as extras than it would be to get uniforms, so sometimes they are real.

Any particular reason you're expecting to honk or "get in their faces"?

If it's with your permission, then, sure, they can put stuff on your lawn. If you meant to say "without," then no, they can't do so legally. If they have the appropriate permits, they can probably put stuff in the public right-of-way, though.

one day and they says they will be doing car stants.

Coordinated lawn mowing...as soon as you are done with your yard, give your neighbor the signal to start his. Just give them enough time to start another take.

Doing car stunts requires having all the appropriate permits, insurance, and safety precautions--including personnel from the police and fire departments. I suppose you could complain, but the production company would have already informed the local film commission, police, and fire departments of everything that they are going to do, and these departments would have okayed the plan.

If the stunts are anything serious, the people in uniform who are involved are much more likely to be stuntpeople and not real cops--but there will be police present.

Just the other day you were saying how fun it is to drive 100 mph and weave in and out of traffic - I'd think you'd enjoy watching them film car "stants." Give them a break, it's only one day...

yes acording to notice they have insurance and all of the required permits

Other suggestion:

have a yard sale and make sure it's well advertised so that cars are parked up and down the street. And make sure it starts before the production crew gets there.

Okay, we've established that they are engaged in a lawful business activity with the full knowlege and consent of the local and city government and the police.

So, how big did you say your legal budget was?

I'm not sure that you could... I think it'd fall into the same category as recording a speech or concert, both of which are copyright violations. Because you are taping the same thing the film crew is taping, you'd be violating their copyright to their creative work.

but they are on public land and i am on my property so i can't still do it legally? i read the links but they address this exact sinario

I was living in Richmond, Va. back when they were filming the Charlie Sheen movie The Shadow Conspiracy. The movie was only a so-so action thriller but they filmed it in several places in the city I was familiar with. They were using Richmond as a stand-in for the D.C area.

They had one street blocked off for severall blocks only two streets away from my walk-up apartment near downtown. I went over there once but the street was deserted because they happened to be filming indoors that day. I wasn't able to go there on the day they filmed the car chase scenes.

The climax of the movie where Sheen and the vilian duke it out and the vilian goes crashing through a glass roof onto a grand piano was filmed in the building I worked at as a night security gaurd three years before that when I'd first moved to the city.

A foot chase through what appears to be a factory is actually the plant for the printing press of the Richmond Times Dispatch, the newspaper I was working for at the time.

There was a scene filmed near the base of the James River bridge where I sometimes went hiking and the final scene with Charlie Sheen and Linda Hamilton in a park was the park close to my apartment where my wife and I often rode bikes or went jogging.

By the time the movie was released and I rented the video, I no longer lived in Virginia so it was fun seeing my old stomping grounds all the way through the film. That was actually better than the movie itself because the movie wasn't all that great to begin with.
