I miss holding a 6x6 Velvia slide in my hand. Digital is great and all, but not everything.

I found a deal on a Yashica Mat EM TLR camera, along with a +2 close up diopter (Vivitar) set, and a 2x Telephoto (Yashica) set.

The last TLR I had was a gray Yashica-A that I loved. And it had a crappy lens. This one is one I had drooled over back when I was using TLRs and they were going for $250-ish without the lens attachments.

I'm going to run a roll of Velvia through it to test the meter. Seems to work well, but until you have a roll of film through it there's no way to be sure.

I've always like the "warmth" of film over digital, congrats DurocShark

Heh. I changed the subject to something more... ummm... eye catching. ;)

I was at a thrift store today and picked up a Seagull 300 camera for $5.99. The Seagull is a Chinese version of the Minolta X370. They bought the rights and tooling to make these a while back. It's EXACTLY the same as a modern X370.

So now I've got med format and 35mm to play with again. Digicam relegated to family snapshots, ebay and FS/FT, and anything I need a quick-n-dirty shot of.

Time to hunt down some good macro gear for my Minolta mount camera now!

Go search eBay for Yashica. You'll find tons. Even the simple Yashica A will do good work.

I found a camera store that will process E-6 for $5.95 and $6.95 more to scan the whole roll. 15mb files IIRC.

Well, of COURSE I'd rather have a Mamiya. Duh. But I paid $180 for my Yashica Mat EM and the lenses. Can't buy a even a Mamiya body for that. ;)

170$ could get you a film back for it tho, :D

i knoe peopel that have gotten good deals on used ones, i know someone who is selling mamiya 645 AFD kits, comes with a film back and a 80mm lens for 2500 obo, more kits you buy the better the deal

also have some friends that got one on ebay for next to nothing, my friend heather got a 645 pro and 3 lenses for less then 1500

I'm a photo lab technician, and I can definitively tell you that both suck, but film sucks more. Printing pictures at all is just stupid, my job is stupid and a robot should be doing it.

Unless you're making pics to display, it's utterly stupid. My lab, and AFAIK all labs today tranfer your film to digital to print anyway, it's not like you're avoiding being bits at some point. Decent monitor > prints

#1: I don't pay others to print my images. I've got an army of printers. :)
#2: Your job sucks. I totally agree and would never want to to do it.
#3: Your job sucking |= film sucking.
