Commentary:
Recommended by Bill Moyers, this film adds some new information and exposure to the issue. It interviews multiple detainees who were tortured.
IMO, a good complementary read is Naomi Klein's "The Shock Doctrine", its early content doing an outstanidng job at explaining the destruction 'sensory depravation' causes.
This documentary helps portray just how radican and criminal the policies were - it has interviews with people such as the top Navy Lawyer, and you see how even people at that level were lied to by Rumsfeld who told them the techniques were suspended over their concerns, while he secretly authorized the techniques. That's a criminal conspiracy. Or, the top trained for the Navy Seal SERE training, who explains that techniques taken from training and applied to detainees are totally inappropriate - and it's criminal to do so.
As with Watergate, holding our elected officials accountable is awkward and uncomfortable, but when their actions are radical and illegal, we need to do so or the nation is weakened.
