Film Developing Question

clamum

Lifer
Say someone held up a baggie with a green plant-like material in it. Say another someone took a picture of this on a disposable camera. Then the camera is brought to a place to get developed, such as Wal-Mart. Wonder what the ppl who see the picture would think?

They'd probably think "at least it's not a British soldier forcing an Iraqi POW to give him a blowjob." Either that or they'd think that's a retarded thing to take a picture of. Not like they could prove it was pot anyway.

LOL

But who said it was pot

You implied it was pot. What else would it be? Oregano? 😛

Two words of advice: digital camera.

I actually want to buy a camera sometime...should I get a digital one or film? See the thing about film is that you can put pictures in a photo album (more convenient) but digital you have to pretty much keep them on a computer, cause I don't want to print out every picture I take. My reasoning anyways.

YMMV at the local walmart lab. They have the right to call the police and press charges if needed.

If you use the mail in service at walmart, the film is not checked and anything will get by including anything in your imagination.

you can get digital photos developed too, i think its better, cuz that way you can just develop the picture you actually like and came out good

What is the mail in service?

I used to work at an extremely high volume Ritz Camera for about 4 years. Usually about 150 rolls a day. While most printing now is automated, most good places (more expensive, or some one hour places) will "QC" rolls quickly to make sure there are no gross errors. If you goto cheap places that are very very busy you will likely find they may not QC at all.

Most film developers have a policy to do some scans of film to make sure they won't be liable as accessories to any illegal activities. However, I don't think anyone is going to be looking for pictures of people holding up baggies. Kiddie porn is the real concern. In most places, they don't even worry much about photos of consenting adults. (That's not to say the employees won't make extra copies for themselves.)

Mail in service sends the film to a huge lab to process the film. It's cheaper but takes 3 days minimum IIRC.

If a female is showing breasts but has some sort of mark from surgery, etc., walmart will process them.

Hah, there used to be a secret stash at my store of customer nudies. One time a guy came back from a trip to Hedonism II with rolls upon rolls of goodies. Another time a guy in a store across from us in the mall said that if he would do his film for free his girlfriend would let me keep naked pictures of her. I took up that offer. 😉

150 rolls was high volume? Man, I worked in a Wal-Mart One hour photo, and 150 rolls was a slow day for us. There were some days when we would process over 300 rolls in a single day. I enjoyed working there, but I don't really miss it anymore.

Well, for the equipment we had it was high volume. We had not gotten the new fuji frontiers commonplace now...we were using old noritsu machines that you had to feed film through manually, as well as manually set color and exposure.

I thought this was gonna be a question about film developing. Like "I'm processing C-41 film. What is the ideal temperature for my fixer bath, and for how long should I agitate at that temperature?"

Oh well. 🙂

Hehe, no sorry Jzero. Guess I should've made a more descriptive title, huh? 🙂

This isnt a film developing question! I was expecting to read about stopper and fixer, and I get some pothead talking about taking pictures of his weed! In any event, just pretend it's oregeno and put it on pizza.

It's risky, but I wouldn't worry about it.

You aren't going to come back to pick up the film, only to find the cops waiting for you.

Unless the "baggy" was really a "bail".

Don't be stupid and do this. I had a class last semester with a Narcotics Officer. He showed me a video that someone sent to have converted to DVD. The video had numerous drug deals on it and a shooting. Cover your ass and get a digicam or don't take pictures. I wouldn't take pics anyways it is too much trouble and possible liability.

It depends on how much of an asshole the film processor is, and it the cops want to waste their time. They can always put you under surveillance.

Well, the subject is appropriate, but a whacko photography hobbyist like me will get confused. But there is no need to cater to me 🙂
