we have a couple of filipoinos in this office and everyday the food that they eat just smells worse and worse. today's fish was just rancid, i don't know how they can eat it. it not only stunk up the lunch room, but all the hallways and the other rooms as well. today's must have been the worst.

even the air fresheners we used couldn't cover up the horrible smell.

/end rant

Is it just you being repulsive to any foreign food or does everyone share your disgust?

I have an Italian friend who can?t stand the smell of Chinese food. lol :D

It's not the fish, but the way it's prepped

I know what you talking about. I've smelt it before... yeah not the most pleasant thing to smell

Edit:
But then I'm sure what you find yummy they find gross

To each their own

I love Filipino food and I have no problem with the way it smells. You're probably just not used to it.

Why is it "The Philippines", yet "Filipino"?

Beats me, but thats what they call them selves.

I'm Filipino, and I don't know why.
BTW, I take offense to many of the things said here. While some foods taste and smell not good.... some of it is very very good.

Their native language did not have the letter P... just the F sound... or is it the other way around... something like that. Anyway that's also why they pronounce some words begining with P as F and vice versa... it's confusing i know. My parents do it all the time.

Anyway... as for the smell... my family eats some things that does smell rather baaad... but i guess they like it. I for one refuse to eat it... :D I'm somewhat not offended... but i do hope some of you realize that there are other people around the world that say the same thing about what you eat. :)

Everyone's allowed an opinion.

My step mom is filipino, and some of the fish she make's really stinks. So my dad has her cook it outside!
