Filenames on CDRs burned in Nero - ???

Sometimes when I burn data files onto Nero, the file name that appears when later trying to read the CD is rather odd. It's in all caps, and instead of spaces where they were, there are only underscores. Same goes for hypens. The numbering on them can be strange too. Here's an example:

Original filename: Test file - 01.avi
Filename after burning: TEST_FILE___01.AVI

Though the files still open and function properly, this can make organizing stuff within a CD very annoying. This only happens occasionally. Does this have anything to do with 'Joliet'? I'm using Nero 5.5.

Yes.

The 'Joliet' format supports long filenames and upper/lowercase names.

The 'ISO9660' format is uppercase only, 8+3 filenames, and no dash (-) symbols... it replaces them with the underscore. ISO9660 format has the advantage of being platform independant.

Ah, I see. So if I want the filenames to stay the same, I should always click on 'Joliet'? Simple enough, just wish I knew it sooner. Thanks! ^_^
