File sharing through router?

I have a router connected to my school's network. My roommate's and my computer are connected to the router. Is there a way for me to see the shared files on my school's network, and is there a way for me to see my own shared files from other computers on my school's network?

Thanks.

You'd have to talk to your school's network people to find out how it is setup and if you have to have your computer on their Domain or in a special workgroup or anything like that I would think...

THen if it was one huge network and you know the computer name or IP of some other computer on it, you'd probably be able to share files with other computers....

it depends.. if you can see everyone else on the network when you dont use a router then yes.
if not then i would say no.

set your router on dmz mode and you should see everything, thats the easiest way.

otherwise you will have to open the microsoft networking ports.
which is like 135.. and some others i think.
