file recovery

Ok so a capacitator decide to fail on my 6 year old ECS KS75A. I still had another tower standing next to this stone age PC. I took the HD connected to the ECS and installed in my new tower with a PT880 Neo. So I'm trying to get all my files back from my 160 GB drive but my account was passworded, so I don't have access to it. Can somebody tell me how I can get around that password.

BTW: I was running on XP Home Edition.

The Chipset with the bad motherboard was an Athlon XP 1600+

No I'm on a P4 3.02 Ghz HT

Please Help me!

2 options :>

1 - change the permissions on the folders to give your new account full permissions and 'owner' status

2 - Make a BArtPE CD, it will let you get into the folders

Don't you type that in everyday; not sure why your account is password protected and you don't remember it. Maybe boot to safe mode and hopefully the admin account is not password protected. You can then change the password. Hopefully the profile is not set to private....

First post = "I forgot the password I type in all the time how do I get into files" is always suspect, but just plug the drive into another PC and do as DrGreen said.

I think what he meant to say is that he had a working windows install on an old computer....that computer died, and he's now on a totaly new computer (different HD and all)...and now cannot access his passworded files on the old HD. I don't password my windows accounts, so other than trying to clarify, I don't know what to say...
