File Permission Problem

i had a bunch of music videos before i reformatted that i didnt remove the permissions on. and now it wont let me access them. i have it set how it should be with full control over them n stuff but it does work.. and i dont know how to log in as administrator but i doubt that will work either. any ideas?

Um... am I understanding that you reformatted the OS drive, reinstalled, but don't have admin rights? That doesn't make sense. You must have set an admin password somewhere, or else there's something else going here you haven't told us. Assuming that you didn't encrypt the files, the admin account should be able to change the permissions around on them. If you encrypted them, then it's a whole different story.

If they're encrypted you're pretty much screwed, you need the key used to encrypt them which was lost when you formatted unless you backed them up first.

what he said

I made the same mistake myself a while back (I think I still have the files because I was hoping I could come up with some way to save them, but I dont think that's going to happen.....)
