About a 2 weeks ago I installed my new maxtor 80gb hd on my computer. I then proceeded to install Windows xp and format the drive to Ntsf(i think thats it). My computer downstairs has lots of movies, data files , etc on it but is running WinMe Fat32. Would it be possible to hook the 2 up via Cat5 cable and transer files from the Fat32 hd to my Maxtor 80gb HD?
If not what should i do

Like n0c says, network data transfers are completely file-system independant.

The only time it would become an issue is if you were trying to put your NTFS-formatted HDD into your WinME machine - but over a network, you wont have a hassle.

Good Luck!

will these files run even though they came from a Fat32 system? I read somewhere they wouldnt run and NTSF is bad. I didnt believe this but want to make sure i can trasfer files via disk, network whatever. I do lots of editing work and projects for college that i use both computers. I might edit something upstairs and then bring it downstairs to use.
This wont be a problem right?

Check out the FAQs (link in my sig). Specifically, NTFS vs. FAT32 and NTFS and FAT32 on the same system.

But a basic answer: it wont matter.

As long as both systems can see each other you can copy files across with no problems at all, regardless of the file systems.
