Send an e-mail to "fightingwhites@hotmail.com". You will receive back on order form and more info. Heres the poop:

A small college in Greeley CO. has the moniker of "Fighting Reds" for the team name. A majority of the student population is American Indian. They have been trying unsuccessfully to get the team renamed as they find it offensive. The logo is the standard Indian brave. Being fed up, the basketball team has unofficially renamed itself the "Fightin' Whitey's". The logo is of a 1950's style white guy (much like the old Falstaff beer guy).

Their website couldn't handle the load of shirt requests so they are doing it like this for now. All the proceeds are going to an American Indian charity. I only put this up because I know there are other people like me who LOVE to support anyone who gives those with "authority" the collective bird. Support these delinquent youths, donate to a worthy charity and get a cool shirt! That is a hot deal for $20.

I know the story is real, but is this an "official" University t-shirt is my question? I have already seen the logo and could make my own t-shirt.

If their real desire was 'offend people' to make them know what it feels like..fine. However, now they're trying to profit from it. Also, with all the free t-shirts that come through here, it begs the question "Where's the hot deal?"

Their trying to profit off of it offends me personally, and I would appreciate if the thread be taken off.

That's like me creating a team called the Fightin' N*gger-storks (reference: Real World New Orleans) and trying to pass it off as 'a statement'....THEN turning around and trying to profit from it.

That's ignorant.

The intra-mural team made no mention of any monies from the sale of any shirts going to charity, and the $20 is not tax deductible, since the team is not a charity.

There is no mention of any intra-mural teams on the UNCO website, but there is a Fightng Whites web site, which is listed as "under construction". It was registered by someone using a PO Box in Georgia just yesterday.

I have seen no mention of this email account (a Hotmail account at that) accepting Tshirt orders on any news story about this issue. It could very well be a scam and you won't get a shirt, or it could very well be set up by someone not affiliated with the intra-mural team at all, but someone who's using an anyomous email account and a news story to make a quick buck.

Lastly, there is a place called Tom's Tee's on the web which is selling these shirts, as welll as hats, but the slogan isn't the same as the intra-mural team, so it's probably just another person looking to make a buck off their idea also.

Would the original poster care to post a link to a news story from a credible source where it says the money from these shirts is going to charity and mentions the Hotmail account? If not, I'd delete all references to that email account.
