Arafat was under the arrogant and mistaken impression that he could change that during the talks. When he found he couldn't, he left...

still, he was the closest thing to a 2 state solution, and he crashed it to the ground when he could have tried kept it alive by other methods of compensation.

Ummm...no. 100s of thousands of Palestinians stiill remember living in their homes and businesses in Jerusalem. Being forced to relocate because of an agreement they were not a part of was a very bitter pill for them to swallow. They lost their homes and ended up with nothing...
Many Palestinians just want to go home before they die.
I imagine that much of this will ease as that generation dies off (the kids don't know or care except that it would make their parents happy)

You're an idiot. this is a war that happened 60 decades.

less than 1% of today's "palestinians" were ever born in what is now israel.

so no, i sincerely doubt most remember anything, considering most have no presence in any israel.

you really need to re-read this thread, and perhaps a book. over 150,000,000 made homeless in post-WWII, including 3.5 million jews.

and yet, the arabs of palestine are the only people who have yet to resettle. 60 decades of terrorism, civil wars in lebanon and jordan, torching embassies...and yet, they are they darling of the left.

they eat the bullshit pallywood propaganda up.

BTW, I don't know if it's important, but I am Jewish myself. There are many of us who want this to end now, and we are tired of the hate mongers...both Isreali and Arabic (and American).

that's nice.

perhaps as a jew, you should read a book instead of lobbying for the most antisemitic people on the planet?

yeah, read the polls. pallies are avid consumers of antisemitism.

and bigotry.

Speaking of the idiots.. Do you have any idea what 60 decades translates to, in years?

Yes, he is an idiot...
I bet he meant 6 decades, and the average percentage of people over 60 worldwide is 20% not 1%...that includes the 3rd world.
He will fil himself on his prejudice and hate while not listening to anything else.

6 decades, total typo.

Less than 1% of the palestinian "refugee" population was ever born in what is now Israel.

DO YOU DISAGREE?

like i said, you claimed hundreds of thousands of "refugees" remember being displaced in a war they started.

this is patently false. the original refugees are mostly dead or dying of old age, and they're about ~40,000 of em' left.

if you didn't know - far more jews were made refugees than arabs in the middle east, and they were made refugees independent of conflict.

they were expelled because they were jews.

and they didn't get to wage a revenge-based conflict to "get back their land" that was stolen by the arabs between 1967-1991.

a land 4x the size of israel, property worth over 200 billion USD.

Of course I disagree...that is ridiculous. Do you just pull this stuff from thin air, or has someone written a "pamphlet" you're quoting from...

40,000 of those who were pushed out in 1948 sounds right...but you're forgetting the larger majority of those hundreds of thousands that were forced out during the 1967 war.

While I agree with you that we Jews haven't had it much better, if we act towards others the way we ourselves were treated, then we deserve to receive the same scorn and anger that we have given.
Judge not lest ye be judged...

While much of what IHV is saying is basically true, many Jews left Arab Countries post 1948 for reasons other than just merely being expelled. Here is a wiki link that better explains it.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jewish_exodus_from_Arab_lands

But two alternate points to make.

1. When the Arabs States expelled their Jewish populations post 1948, I think we can all agree that this was wrong wrong wrong. But why should the sins of Arab States, many as far away as a 1000 miles from Israel be blamed on Palestinians and Arabs that suddenly found they had become part of the State of Israel in 1948???

2. If we look at the wiki link charts, the surrounding Arab states listed in the wiki charts, had in 1948, somewhere between a 0.1% Jewish population and up to 2.8% as a high.
Yet if we look at land and population records from 1948 Israeli at the moment it became a State, something on the order of 65% of the land and population was Arab and Palestinian. And now, in 2010 Israel, almost 0% of the land is truly Arab or Palestinian owned. With the Palestinians being the greatest losers.

So by your logic, why the fuck should Iran, saudi arabia, and those arab countries far away care about the Palestinians?

In fact they dont, not even lebanon, syria, jordan, or eygpt give a shit. if they cared so much about them, they would absorb the population.

egypt was offered gaza when they got sinai back as part of the deal on israel's offer, but they allowed israel to keep it, now causing issues.

Jordan didnt want the west bank back when they made peace with israel either.

lebanon and syria still think they have a fighting chance against israel, which is funny as hell.

The fact is, is that those countries hate Israel and use the palestinians as their bargaining tool.

I never said they did, to them its an issue and an irritant. But the Arabs and Palestinians inside of Israel are an Israeli problem, that Israel will have to deal with FAIRLY. Your evident dream is that the Arabs will assimilate the Palestinians when its an Israeli problem and responsibility. And worse yet a ticking time bomb that threatens to undermine the moral foundation and Israeli right to exist as world opinion is turning against Israel because of its oppression and discrimination of Palestinians and Arabs living in areas controlled by Israel. For 62 years the various leaders of Israeli have been kicking the justice can further down the road, and now it looks like the larger world may not tolerate the can kicked any further. And may demand Israel address the problem of equal human rights for Palestinians.

That is my read of the tea leaves, and I realize it may not be yours. But regardless of what you or I think, time and only time will tell.

How do you disagree?

What was the average life expectancy for Arabs between 1948-1967?

40, according to the United Nations.

Approximately ~400-700k Arabs were made refugees in the 1948 war. All of the original refugees are either dead or dying.

So for you to say, "hundreds of thousands of people" still "remember" whatever is mathetmically impossible.

And even if they did, so what?

big effin deal.

It was 60 decades ago. Move on.

What? How many were "forced out" during the 67 war? No Israeli Arabs fled during the 1967 war.

Haven't had it much better?

Drawing parallels between Palestinian misery, which is self-inflicted, and Jewish misery, which isn't - is simply intellectual laziness.

Over 850,000 Jews were expelled from the Arab world by Nazi-Arab states. The Jewish presence in these countries predated the Arab identity, some communities go all the way back to roman times.

Historic synaguges converted into mosques, etc.

The Arabs of Palestine FLED in a war THEY STARTED. They were not passive victims of casualties of a civil war.

Millions were made refugees in post-WWII civil wars. 10,000,000 alone during the partition of India, which was less than a year after the 1948 israel war.

Read a book.

But the Arabs and Palestinians inside of Israel are an Israeli problem, that Israel will have to deal with FAIRLY

How so? Arabs and Muslims in Israel are highly assimilated, certainly more than the Arabs and Muslim immigrants in Europe.

The real threat to Israel are the Haredi, who are not only anti-Zionist but also breed like rabits.

nearly 30% of all israeli arabs voted for Zionist parties...and that number is only increasing.

so for Iran, an irritant will cause them to give millions of dollars of weapons to hamas and hezbollah so they can attack israel?
