Best ever? You gotta be kidding me.

What can I say, it's been my favorite since I was a child.

Fair enough. I do like it, don't get me wrong. But I'd come short of calling it the "best" out there. Which leads me to think.... what -do- I consider the best out there... hmmm. I should be happy that you didn't say Phantom or Les Miz or something. :)

Big fan of Forever Plaid right now, though it's hardly a "deep" musical. It's definitely a show that is palatable by the non-musical folk, and a hilarious 90 minutes or so.

No...

See below for uber-musicalness:

Seven Brides for Seven Brothers
My first directing gig was doing this show. I loved it. One of the only movie-musicals that was then made into a stage show.

Stop Pluging your show. just by the fact your in it or ad. it on your sig makes me believe that it sucks!

Blech....Fiddler *shudder*
A "classic" but that doesn't mean I like it.

My personal favorite has got to be Pippin. Also a big fan of Little Shop Of Horrors, Godspell, Man Of La Mancha and Threepenny Opera. My "shows I must perform" list is starting to get scant. Of those, Godspell is the only one I have not done yet. I can tick off Man Of La Mancha next month :)

i just bought tickets to go see spamalot in august. :) the soundtrack is coming out.. next week, I think.

y'all like musicals, you should listen to my daughter's radio show. you can listen to the webstream at wusc.sc.edu, it's on noon-2 on saturdays. 2 hours of showtunes and film scores.

I don't think I have a single favorite musical. I pretty much like them all, as long as they have a story. we have season tickets to the local broadway series and they brought us smokey joe's cafe and fosse this year (and fiddler and miss saigon), and the first two didn't do much for me. next year we get the producers and the full monty and... .. ... something else.. and thoroughly modern millie. what is that something else.. 42nd street. :) (who needs a memory when there's google..)

While I do agree that it's one of the best, I will have to argue that Phantom of the Opera is far superior to any other stage performance I have ever seen or read.

Best musical ever: South Park's first Christmas episode. Featuring such unforgettable songs, including "Christmas Poo", "Kile's Mom's a big fat b!tch", and "Jew on Christmas".

I'll be doing Godspell for an Aid's benefit in July. Where/when are you doing La Mancha?

Had forgotten about Little Shop, that show is great. :)

GRRRR, I really want to see it, but tixs are hard to come by.
BTW, Fiddler is definately worth seeing on broadway. I got my playbill signed by Harvey FIERSTEIN when i saw it last week. Definately a play to see.
I will also hop on the Phatom and Les Mis bandwagon.
