Fiberglassed a system into my 350Z

looks great,
especially since it doesnt take up that much space in the trunk. The only think i dont like is the capacitor or something sticking out by the side of the amps
 
Wow, never knew the Z was a hatch. Why didn't they make the G35 coupe a hatch too? My cousin has one and it would definitely increase the practicality of it by a whole lot.
 
Looks good. Dont particularly care for the color, but it does go well as a theme so it works. Didnt read, and couldnt quite tell, but did those amps say Clarion?? 😕

I wish my subs could get away with 2 layers of fiberglass 🙁 My sub would ate that for breakfast i think.

I totally need to practice my fiberglassing skills. I can't stand the smell of the resin....it drives me up the wall. I'll catch a wiff of it and will smell it for hours afterward just because it lingers in my nostrils that way.....ick.
 
Gotta question here pertaining to your door speaker install...

Is it a wise idea to wrap the crossovers with bubblewrap and let them dangle loose inside the door? Is this something that most car audio installers do? I can understand that you're fine with that because it's your car and if the connections are secure and they don't come loose and there are no rattles then you have no worries, but I'd be a bit pissed if I paid someone to do an audio install in my vehicle and discovered that this had been donewithout my knowledge. Maybe this is completely acceptable in the install world and widely known, I don't know. I'm not in the install industry. All of my personal installations have included mounting the crossovers with screws.
 
How come you don't have NEXT navigation buttons? I hve to go back to the index and choose Part 2, Part 3, etc.

You're absolutely right. Ideally it should be drilled onto the door....but everywhere on the door is glass behind it. The next best thing would have been to use a strong adhesive. They way I did it works find though 😉

That can work really well, or really poorly, depending on the install. But I dont have to tell you that.
 
id have to wager on epoxy.

he just used body filler after initial sanding, bondo works also.

unsure of his finish coat.

I thought I saw a can of Evercoat polyester resin in one of the pictures. That would setup quicker than epoxy, even the quick setting epoxy.

Whatever was used they did a very good job. I never thought of using a t-shirt to get the shape close to what is needed.

We have a couple of guys at our office that do this stuff with their cars. I wonder how they can afford the cars, much less all the gadgetry they put in them when they make less than I do. Then I went to one of their houses to pick up some pond rocks for my back yard, and from the looks of where they live, they CAN'T afford that stuff 😀

Question about your amps: They are Polk/Momo C400.4 and the C500.1 right? Are you pretty happy with them? I've got the C500.1 and was thinking about getting the C400.4, but I haven't seen any reviews on it.

And another question about your capacitor setup, do you have it wired in series for both amps, or just the mono amp?

you dont have to tell me anything.

or he could do windsheild facing dash mounted tweeters, and some ribbon tweeters, but that would be a lot of research to get the tweeters to sound good, off axis.
