I started taking Fiber Supplements about a week and a half ago. Man, I wish I had started taking them ages and ages ago, its like a world and day difference. No more straining for me, or being constipated for days! Its like, finally I realized that my... movements... were not how they were supposed to be.
I'm taking a sachet of ispaghula husks and 2 teaspoons of wheat dextrin, in the morning after breakfast and in the evening after supper.
Thing is... I wonder how... err... the rest of the population strains. Because, I eat a bowl of All bran flakes every morning, followed by a banana mid morning, then a peanut butter sandwich for lunch, followed by an apple in the afternoon, and then supper (which varies widely, but is always my main meal). My main meal is not as high in vegetables as I would like, but the problem is, sharing a house with two other guys, I have no control over what they cook.
Anyway, I suppose my point is that, while my diet is not amazing, its also not the worst diet I've ever heard of. My housemate, for instance, eats low fiber cereals and no fruit. I mean, I was battling with constipation on my diet, imagine what he is going through! Maybe I am just more susceptible?
I'm 28 and not really physically active at the moment, I think my BMI (via the old fashioned calculation) is 25 or 26.
