No, a 10mb connection means 10 megabaud or 10 mega bits per second. To get mega BYTES per second you must divide by 8. 10/8=1.25 megaBYTES per second. Note that this is theoretical maximum, and doesn't include overhead. Besides that, most servers probably won't let you download that fast. Personally I get 150 to 160 kbytes/sec out of my 1.5 mbit DSL which is pretty good.
