I'd rank them

1. II
2. III
3. VII
4. I
5. X
6. XI
7. IX
8. VIII

I haven't played X-2 or XII yet.

Or 2, 3, or 5.

Obviously, but I intend to play X-2 and XII, not really on the other three.

The results are the opposite of that. But I guess I was looking at it as VII vs Pre-VII, and the results probably reflect VII vs post-VII for many people.

I'm 40 and never played any of them.

Oh, and 'older people'? (shakes cane) GET OFF MY LAWN!!!!!!

Dacalo I don't know that that's "trendy"....it seems more like if you got started on the SNES games, you tend to like them more.

I'd also like to point out that VIII is the only one I didn't finish...somewhere in disc 3 when I was wandering the ocean looking for something, I gave up. I actually quit on X a few times, but always came back....certain things about that game drove me nuts. Like the puzzles at the temples, or the fact that you had to sit through a 10 minutes cutscene before a boss...every time, so if you died, you had to sit through that 10 minute cutscene again.

i think i gave up on 8 around the same place, its th eonly FF i did not finish, other then 12,

personally for me i rank them like this

6>3>1=2=9>X=4=5>7=X2>8>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>tactics

Your opinion was disregarded as fanboi fluff when you ranked 7 equal to X-2 and Tactics below everything.

seeing as ive played every FF that was released, most exactly when they were released im far from a fanboy,

other the being better graphicially 7 had nothing over the previous 6 FFs in terms of gameplay and fun IMO, 8 flat out was horrid, X2 really wasent all that bad, it was basicially X with a worse story and dumb chars

tactics isnt a true FF game, its like orge battle, which i also hated, just not my thing, more boring then playing solitaire.

FF7 is prob the most overrated game of all time, people seem to worship it, it was good but not not best or godlike by any means

Legend of Dragoon, Xenogears and Chrono Cross were all better RPGs for the PSX as well as FF9

I've only played 7, 10, 11.

7 was great as I remember it. The only one I finished. I seem to really remember liking the combat.

10 was ok but I didn't finish it.

11 was a fun mmo until it required a full party just to grind xp.

I am 32.

Technically, I can't rate 2 as I never played it, but it has to be better than 8 and X2. And I rate 3 based on its DS remake. 2 and 3 never came to the US outside of... I think those anthologies. The DS remake of 3 is really nice and it's placement in this list is deceiving. I didn't play 12 yet either. I put X in front of 3 because I didn't know where else to put it. I didn't like the cast, the ending, or the story, but the game really does have a lot of enjoyable gameplay which is sort of its saving grace and because of that it is hard to rate it any lower.

I'd say III and V are worth playing, but aren't the greatest in the series. I didn't dig II that much, though.

I did not play FF VI until the remake on the PS1. I had play a number of games like Ultima 1-7 , Kings Quest, and the Wizardy series. FF VI is on par with those games. FF VIII (The first FF game I played). Was amazing and much more enjoyable to replay.

Same here, 26, not my favorite.

I'd have to go with VI (FF3 SNES) as my favorite. If anyone here plays WoW, the Opera event in Karazhan brought back some good memories of this game :)

X and X-2 should not even be called FF IMO. Chrono on the other hand should.:)

I quit 8 right after I got to disc 4 and realized I wasn't strong enough to beat the boss battle and there were enough enemies around to to give me the xp I needed to level up. FF VIII is the only game I can think of that I actually regret spending my time playing.

As for the OP, FF7 is probably my fav just because the only other FF game I've played and beaten was FF: Mystic Quest. I did check out 9 but couldn't get into it.

RandomFool ? You could leave the castle level up at the Islands closer to Heaven or Hell. It was real easy to Max Level if you have collected the Blue magic from a creature in the ice cavern. Basically it destroyed the monster you were fighting in one blow and gave you the XP.
