Dammit, this lady is PISSING ME OFF.

All of you... promise me something...
when you call tech support... LISTEN AND DON'T TALK WHILE I'M TELLING YOU WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON.

arg, if i called tech support and got nik i would bang my head against the table repeatedly....i might do that anyway.....woopie!!!!

strange the only tech support that I had to call was @home/attbi..... But Its okay because all my problems have been fixed. Sadly some of the tech support people always want to disconnect the conversation after I accidentaly tell them I have a home network.

<< Just think, you have nothing else to look foward too on here now 🙂 >>

They shouldn't. They should ask you to connect the computer directly to the modem, wait for you to do so, then continue with the call. I've done tech support for both companies, and it was both company's policy to wait.

Arg... I have a HUGE headache now. The lady's onboard NIC was listed twice in device manager but not in WINIPCFG, and she had a second NIC installed. Remove both in safemode, shutdown, remove the second NIC, boot. Now Win98 should reinstall the drivers for the onboard NIC once and only once, and not have the ghost driver or the second NIC installed. System won't recognize the onboard NIC. Not listed in device manager at all. Install the second NIC, and that's not recognized either. Neither NICs are listed in Device Manager in normal or safemode.

The lady got really frustrated, started crying, and hung up on me 😕

She was offering to have sex with me on the beach if I fixed her computer. :frown: She was freaking out, though. She just spend all this money ($350) on a new computer (refurbished Dell -celeron).

Yea the first time I called and they wanted me to directly connect but the second time I called the lady said something to the effect of "router, do you have a home network"
yes
"o I'm sorry we don't support networks" and I could sense that she was going to cut me off
so I acting like a know it all blurted out "But I know its your fault not my network" (It was, none of the lights were on on the modem except of course the power light)
