Just what I fucking need on a Friday afternoon. The below pic is 96% drawn to scale and accurately tells the story. Going to lunch with a few people from work. Coworker pulls into a spot; I'm right behind him. I pull into the spot directly to his left - as I'm right next to him, he swings his door open in an attempt to leave my children fatherless, and nearly slices my engine clean in half*

* The above may not be 100% accurate. His door crumpled and got knocked off its hinge (needed to be towed because it would not close). I have a lovely gash through my bumper. Frankly, I blame the fucking llama.

We're all friends, but I'm still aggravated. Have to assume his door needs to be replaced and he'll probably get insurance involved. FFFUUUUU.

Who's at fault here... the beloved, fun-loving Jeeebus or the Jew hating Audi driver?

what the fuck happened? he opened his door and you plowed through it in an attempt to park to his left?
 
I would think it's his fault. You pulled into the parking spot to his left right after he pulled in. WTF does he think would happen. He needed to wait for you to park and not open his door all the way.
 
This is one of those things that was really his fault, but you are gonna get nailed to the cross for it by the insurance companies.

I say it's hard to prove fault here for either person. You are both totally at fault while at the same time being totally innocent........did I just blow your mind??

When he opened his door, if it crossed the parking lines, then he is at fault. If it did not cross the line, then you are at fault. This is according to the law in my state a few years ago, not sure about yours. I went to court over this, so I am well versed in it, but IANAL.
 
Most likely I'd say you are, he's pretty foolish for not looking before he opened his door, but you drove right into it.

Wow, that's interesting. Surprise to me, but perhaps good for the OP .. not sure what the laws are here in FL.
 
If you kept TridenT strapped to your bumper where he belongs, you wouldn't have any damage to your car right now.
 
IIRC, opening door into traffic (e.g., driver parallel parked then opened their door without looking, so a bike crashes into it or a passing bus smashes the door off the car) around here is not legal, so the door-opener is at fault.

Dunno about your location or parking lot situations.
 
on phone with Geico (apparently both of our insurer). Guess we'll find out pretty soon who's at "fault." I should probably tell them he's a Nazi sympathizer.
