Hi guys,

I've done a search here and on the net. I don't want to install an extension.

I know about the:
about:config

I remember a setting there that I used ages ago. It let me have more tabs on my screen without having to scroll. It would just make the tabs smaller.

I've changed the

browser.tabs.tabMinWidth : 15
browser.tabs.tabClipWidth : 25

but this isn't working :(.

Cheers!

I must not understand your question. I right click what I want to open>select open in a new tab. Each time they keep piling up & become smaller.

I understand what you are talking about. I think that change must have come with an update. And I'm looking forward to seeing the answer as I didn't notice that before and prefer smaller tabs and no scrolling.
May I ask what version you are using please law9933.

Why not just click the wheel on your mouse, opens in tab by default.

Indeed. I get about 8 tabs on my window and then I need to scroll to see the rest. I'd prefer if they just made the tabs smaller and smaller without scrolling.

This was fine in FF 1.5 with a change in the config I saw someone post p. I MUCH prefered this.

In the titel bar in FF type in:

about:cofig

now change these parameters

browser.tabs.tabMinWidth : 15
browser.tabs.tabClipWidth : 5

It does work. It just needs FF to be restarted! Doh!

I wish they would implement a vertical-draggable bar for tabs so that you could have more than one row :p

Mine also does that; not running any tab, etc. extensions either.

mulletgut, I have FF version 2.0.0.9 the newest update. But I think tabs have always just kept adding on. I don't think my addons IE Tab & New Tab are why. Clicking the wheel works too.

Changing the settings above in my post make the tabs smaller and you can fit a lot more then the 8 or so when they are at their default options.

Yes they do run on, but you can't see the tabs on the tab bar unless you scroll along :p
