FF QB Help

I have Rex Grossman as my QB. My league has no point value for completions, so 10 points or higher from your QB and you're happy.

As we all witnessed this past Sunday, Grossman, while decent, isn't the explosive QB everyone thought he would be.

I am projected to lose this week by 22 points. Keeping Grossman in will only guarantee my loss. While being decent and potentially getting me that acceptable 10 points, there is no way he is going to explode against Seattle.

Carr currently has one of the highest passer ratings and has 600+ yds with 6 TDs while Culpepper has nothing. My first thought would be to go with Carr as he seems to be doing better. The problem?

Week 3: HOU(vs WSH) gives up 263 passing yds & only 1 TD & Miami(vs TEN) gives up 269 & 1 TD
Week 2: HOU(vs IND) gives up 400 passing yds & 3 TDs while Miami(vs BUF) only gives up 83 yds & 1 TD
Week 1: HOU(vs PHI) gives up 314 passing yds & 3 TDs while Miami(vs PIT with BATCH) gives up 203 yds & 3 TDs

Culpepper would seem to have the best opportunity but he can't complete passes to save his career right now, literally.

Should I pick up Carr, Culpepper, or stick with Grossman?

EDIT: Bulger is also available and is playing Detroit. Bulger like Culpepper hasn't been very effective in the RZ.

I'd stay away from Culpepper. I dropped him.

Carr is putting up pretty good numbers though.

I never understand how people who play FF need help in picking players to start.

Why is it hard to understand? Playing FF is fun, and I don't know everything about football. That is the beauty of FF, you can be moderately interested in football and still play FF and have fun doing so.

Would you play Carr over Bulger against DET?

The thing about Det. is that they may come out and play like they did against Seattle in which case Bulger < 10 points. More likely you'll see the team that got lit up by Fav-re in which case thats your best bet. Culpepper.... sucks. Carr has been playing well and Miami has been terrible. Good combination.

well if you understand enough to pick players to draft then you should understand enough on who to start. Noone knows how someone will perform so its a total crap shoot. Looking for others to try and predict the future isnt going to help. You need to roll the dice as an owner and see how you do. That is FF.

I dunno...he did well against Arizona last week and this is Detroit....but he still has only 2 TDs. I'd probably go with Bulger just because of how much worse the Detroit D is than the Miami D.

There is a huge difference between understanding how football & FF work and knowing favorable match-ups. Of course no one can predict the future and I am not asking anyone to really. Im trying to figure out the best possible match-up so that I can determine which QB I think will net me the most points.

First you say DET is going to put up a tough game and Bulger won't do much, then you say Bulger might walk all over DET like Favre did.

Of your poll options, I like Bulger the most. He has historically been a great fantasy QB when healthy; he has not put up fantastic numbers yet this season but it's mostly due to some problems in the red zone, as you noted. However, I think he needed a little time to adjust to the new offense and a new center, not to mention the fact that he had a TD pass to Torry Holt incorrectly ruled out-of-bounds last week. With his matchups against Detroit and Green Bay for the next two weeks, I think Bulger is definitely a guy to pick up. I like Carr but after an OK matchup with Miami he gets two tough defenses in Dallas and Jacksonville. Bulger is capable of putting up way better numbers given his arsenal of receivers anyway.

I thought the same thing and I didn't know he was playing GB right after to I picked up Bulger.
