FF 2 pegs at 100% CPU usage

I've recently been having problems with scroll lag and choppy plugin playback, and eventually realized that FF was pegging its core at 100% usage (equating to 50% system, but anywho..). Aside from switching to Opera or IE, does anyone know of a solution to this?

What kind of plugins are you using?
Could be an AV too. But probably one of the plugins I'm guessing.

nothing exotic, only addons i have are Noia and Flashgot. its really sporadic...i can't figure out what triggers it. its no page in perticular i don't think, because when it starts and i start closing tabs, it doesn't stop until i close ff completely.

This happened to me a while back. The drivers got messed up or something, but after I reinstalled my processor drivers all was well.
