Did you play it? The screenies don't really do it justice. Its one of the few times I've seen the whole 8-bit thing used to really good effect rather than just being obvious that they cheaped out on graphics.

Not yet; I don't need to comment on the graphics quality shown in the screenshots. Does it secretly warp into a 1920x1080 great art game and no one posts those screenshots?

My comment isn't whether they used the bad graphics to good effect, or the rest of the quality of the game - I pointed out great reviews - I made a comment on the graphics.

If you look at the screenshot I posted and disagree, you have a right to your opinion.

Games don't need to have super high end realistic rendering in order to have 'good graphics' Its possible to make an aesthetic choice of simpler graphics that works for the game. If the only possible definition of 'good graphics' to you is some AAA dx11 rendered stuff, then no. Of course it doesn't.

Unlike most of the indie games out there with simple 8-bit graphics, the art choice is central to the story of the game, and it simply wouldn't work with fancy rendering. It would be totally out of place.

I didn't say that's the ONLY type of graphics that are good. These look bad to me. That's a separate issue from whether they are appropriate for the story.

Zork's a great game.

But I'm not going to say it has good graphics.

The meta-game was solved by the time Fez came out for PC. I was told to skip, and after reading that comment I didn't want to give him money anyway.

He does have a point, though, about the industry and the way developers and others in the industry are treated. Gamers and the media can be overly critical and extremely hateful, and many act as though they are entitled to many things game related - as if the developer should be serving them and bowing down to their absolute will.

Doesn't change the fact that he's an asshole and dramatic, of course.
