For building a strong gaming and graphic computer which motherboard and CPU should I get? Which motherboard and CPU run cooler? I have most of the other components I need in my "store bought" computer that I have retrofitted with better items, it's just that the ASUS motherboard in it does not give me enough options for installing custom software and hardware. As well as the computer is overfilled and I'm planning on getting a full tower.
 
I use the shuttle ak31 version 3.1 ($80 newegg), not a bad board for the money. Heatsink of choice is a thermalright sk6 ($25 at coolerexpress for heatsink only) with generic case fan for quieter running (4500 rpm and 19 cfm). Keeps my 1700 xp at 45-49 celcius. Check out the antec 1030 sx black server case ($88 newegg). It may be just what you're looking for.
 
The AthlonXP 1600+ (1.4GHz) looks to be the sweet spot right now, but depending on what you have right now, you will probably need a new HSF and powersupply...
