few question. new to preorder at gamestop

1- do you need to be a member to preorder?

2- can you preorder via their website and pick it up at the store?

3- what is the sales tax if the game cost 29.99 ? at amazon they charge sales tax only for about a dollar and something (not sure). will the sales tax cost be the same as gamestop? california.

4- if i preorder via store.... i tell them i want to preorder X game. what will they ask for? name? phone number? ect... whats the info they need? hows the procedure? step by step. do i pay some of the price up front? if so how much? 5 bucks? from 29.99 ?

1.You have to be a member for at least 14 months before using the preorder system.

2.You order it at the store and pick it up online.

3.The sales tax on a preorder at Gamestop is 45%, so the total cost is somewhere around $70. The sales tax at Amazon is -19%, so it would be around $4 total.

4.You just tell them games that you have previously enjoyed, and they will know what game you want to order. You give them the address to your basement, your aunt's credit card, and a password that you use for every other account. (you should always use just one password for everything, makes it easier to remember.) You pay half of the price upfront, cash only, and don't ask for a reciept.

Or you could call the store or go ask them.

No.

Not that I know of.

It should be the same.

Since you've never pre-ordered from them, they'll probably ask for your name and phone number. You typically pay $5 unless it's a more expensive item in which I think it's usually $10 for things like fancy collector's editions or $25 for a console.

you dont have to be a member

though you can sign up for a free rewards card or something

i dont care about rewards. i just want to preorder this game. i dont like gamestop because i feel like im buying second hand from them. after the fact they open up all factory sealed games and sell it as new makes me feel like eveything is bought from them is not fresh.

but i really want to preorder this game since the only bonus it have are avalible at gamestop.

so we pay 5 dollar up front? from 39.99 which deduct from 39.99 right?

they ask for name and number and give you receipt and thats about it right? then wait till pick up right?

usuallu how much they tax a 29.99 dollar game?

They don't open all of the games. However, almost every box on the store shelf does represent an opened copy.

Yes

Yes. You don't need to keep the receipt either.

The same amount you would at any other place that came to 29.99 (excluding any tax free items 😛).

How old are you?

You have to be at least 25 years old to pre-order. Otherwise, you will need to bring your parent/guardian to co-sign for you.

Unless they know you, you will probably have to show ID. They know me at the local Gamestop, so I don't usually have to do that. Keeping a receipt would be a bad method because most people would just lose it. Also, for midnight launches, they require you to come in early (it can be right before the launch at midnight) and pay off the remaining balance. At that time, they will give you a ticket (that looks like a receipt) to get the game. In this case, you must keep the ticket!! (Unlike the original receipt.)

They use your phone number. All game reserves are listed under your phone number. They call you the day before release to remind you too. If you enter a cell phone # they text you instead.

If you have multiple games reserved under one number they can view them all at once. You can even add money to your reserved game. Like so..

Lets say you want to reserve The Last of Us for PS3. You pay $5 down toward the price. Then lets say you are there and have another $10 to put down. No problem, now you have $15 on the game and that applies toward the purchase. If you decide you don't want the game, you get your money back. Simple. You could just pay little by little as you get extra money and have the game paid for by the time it releases, I've done this in the past. My local store is very close to my house so sometimes if I have a few dollars left, instead of buying beer I'll put some cash down on a game I have reserved. That way in case I forget the game is coming out, I have enough down that it might not be a big deal. Occasionally I reserve multiple games that release on the same day or within a week. Spending $200 on games at one time is not always possible. This way I don't need to worry about having $200 on me, I can pay it down over the course of a few months.

Upon the game's release they notify you it will be available and when (sometimes they do midnight openings for big game releases), and they will hold the game for 48 hours. Just in case you reserve some obscure title that isn't in big demand and they only get one which sometimes happens.
