I finished putting a new comp together today and I've had a few difficulties. Everytime I boot, it runs through the post checking the cpu, memory, ide drives. After that I keep getting this message: cmos checksum memory error (loading default bios). Any idea as to what this means? My second problem is when trying to overclock or underclock my cpu. I'm able to change the fsb around but i've had trouble with changing the mult. settings. for some reason the only options i'm able to post with are 10 and 10.5 with the fsb at 100. i've got a 1ghz chip with 100fsb, thus the 10. now i could swear that the l1 bridges are connected (using a magnifying glass) so i'm not sure why i'm unable to change the settings around more. trying anything below 10, i can't post. anything above 10.5 loads it as 10.5. any clue as to why this is? or how to fix it for that matter.

specifics: epox 8k7a+, 1ghz amd axiar with 100fsb, tnt2 till i get my geforce 3 tomorrow, 256mb corsair xms2400. nothing else attached at the moment till i get these things fixed.

thanks in advance :)

Are you getting this error when booting at default settings? What about rasing the voltage?

thanks guys, i believe i just needed to bump the voltage a little. didn't try flashing the bios but the board is brand new so the battery is fine and those were at default settings. i'm now having a new problem though. i tried installing the drivers for my geforce 3 and when i went to reboot, it says ntldr is missing. it posts, goes through the raid check and just before the windows screen would normally show, i get that. any ideas?

thanks again

Do you have the Bios set to boot to SCSI? Or optionally on some boards to boot to Raid controller/ATA100 controller? Its looking for the boot drive for Win2k.. you dont have a disk in the floppy drive do you? That also would cause that error.
