Couple somewhat recent memory deals. Started a few days ago. I searched and didnt see it posted so.... I was bored.

I had to point out this OCZ 2GB kit of PC-4000 Platinum (OCZ5002048EBPE-K) for a great price of $168.61 total shipped after rebate. This stuff sells for $250+ everywhere else. Even newegg is $259. I did a few quick checks on reviews. Platinum has timings of around 2-3-2-7 at speeds lower than 240mhz. Also seems to overclock nicely to around 280mhz or so. LINK

$205.62 + $2.99 shipping
-$40 rebate
= $168.61 total shipped AR

Also they have the OCZ 2GB kit of PC-4000 GOLD (OCZ5002048ELGE-K) for $152.61 total shipped after rebate. Decent price also I thought. Seems like reviews show it to overclock decently as well. At under 250mhz, seems to run with timings of around 2.5-3-3-7 or so. LINK

$189.62 + $2.99 shipping
-$40 rebate
= $152.61 total shipped AR

Happy hunting. Rebates expire 5/10 on both.

I would be careful with OCZ's rebates... look at Newegg's customer reviews for some of the OCZ ram sets advertised with the rebate.

Honestly they are about the same price. If you look around, theres lots of pc3200 2gb kits with rebates as well. They are only like $10 cheaper at the most than the pc-4000 kits. Id probably go with pc3200 if you are not and definitely dont plan to overclock, because they have significantly lower timings.

In terms of OCZ rebates. I know ocz has great service so...I cant see them shafting people. But I have personaly never done an OCZ rebate untill now. I guess I cant personaly disprove that. They do rebates all the time, I just dont think they would shaft people. Unless you have proof, dont start spitting that. Dont go by newegg. They have the worst reviews ever.

I know this isn't from Monarch, but it is about the same price as the PC4000 in the OP.
OCZ 2GB DDR PC-4000 (500MHz) OCZ5002048ELGEGXT-K, 3-4-3-8, Dual Channel (2x1gb) DDR 184-Pin with XTC Heat Spreader $190 - $40Rebate = $150 + ~$6.50 shipping = ~$156.50.

Also another decent overclocker, but I do not know which one OCs better.
I do know the XTC looks a lot better with its headspreaders, but headspreaders really do not help much.

Yeah I did see that. Alot of people(like me) get charged tax on outpost. 😛 So if you do, that kills it. That is a decent price though.

Also in general, the regular GOLD edition is better than that xtc. The xtc stuff hardly overclocks at all. Id know, I just sold it. Also, even at 200mhz, xtc timings still cant go below 3-4-3-7, where as GOLD are able to do 2.5-3-3-7(according to the reviews anyways). 🙂

its not necessarily OCZ that shafts people but the rebate company themselves. Ive done 2 rebates with rebatestatus.com and they both have had problems but i have recieved both. Just call them up and explain the situation.

(one was rejected because they looked at the date the receipt was printed, not the purchase date. This one was resolved via email but took too long. The other they never showed that they received it but i called and spoke to Shelly i believe and she entered all my info for me and I got that rebate as well. Just keep track of the rebates and call them if they screw up.
