"Dutch superstar DJ and producer attacked in Brazil at gunpoint

Trance producer Ferry Corsten was robbed at gunpoint on a recent visit to Sao Paulo, Brazil.

The attack took place after Corsten was driven away from a local radio station. "

Only in Brazil... :p

Poor guy. Oh well, they rob the families of soccer superstars there, why not a visiting DJ? It's punishment because his latest album isn't the r0x0r :)

Been reading my AIM Away Message, huh? :p

Ya, I was quite disturbed about this. I couldn't sleep last night. If anything happened to him, I would have gone to Brazil and bust some heads.

I  Ferry (In a totally straight, appreciative of his music, think he's talented sort of way.)

Never heard of Ferry Corsten so who cares... :D

He's a really nice guy.

Totally, took the time to sign me an autograph and take a picture.

KS

I spoke to him for a good 15 minutes last year about his opinions on the divide between mainstream and underground dance music.

He's one of the few mainstream DJ's I actually like because he's actually human, doesn't think of himself like some form of almighty god *cough* tiesto *cough* van *** *cough*.

If they knew who it was, they wouldn't have robbed him, they would have kidnapped him.

Another dickhead in the mainstream DJ line, infact I despise him more than Tiesto, *** Boy & Oakentwat put together.

I agree about Tiesto and PVD. I don't know anything at all about Picotto, why the hate?!?

And yeah, you can tell from Ferry's show's that he's a down to earth kind of guy. He loves his fans, his shows are totally for the audience. He get's soo involved and just feeds off the energy!

EDIT: When I say I agree, just based on things that I've heard about those two. I do consider both still talented. Just not the nicest guys these days. That's all.

Don't get me wrong, I used to adore Tiesto before he turned into a commercial "it's about the money now, not the music" twat, same thing happened with PVD.

I don't like Tiestos general attitude and I don't like a lot of his more recent music, one thing in particular that really pissed me off was the way in which he has the audacity to take a classic tune like Adagio for Strings and then put it down as being his own, seriously, you don't do that no matter who the f*ck you are, but apparently he can because he's been number one on djlist for 3 years running? Yeah, right.

>William Orbit - Adagio for strings (Tiestos' Hard Trance Remix) Fine

>DJ Tiesto c*nt - Adagio for strings Slice your throat you thieving c*nt

As for PVD, that's more to do with a personal level, having met the guy numerous times (I work in freelance design and the music industry), he is nothing but a grade A, homebrewed c*nt, there are no other words to describe the way he looks down on people and treats everyone like a piece of sh*t.

PVD is perhaps the only DJ I know that has bodyguards - Yup, sad c*nt, whatever happened to interacting with the fans / crowds? - Not in PVD's books, he's the almighty PVD, he gets paid silly amounts of money to play an hour long set (which, quite frankly a 4 year old could do with a pair of CDJ1000's), which we've already heard the exact same set of on that commercial 'ibiza album' CD he released on Ministry last week

Judge Jules is exactly the same as PVD with his attitude, I hate the both of them.

Now Mauro Picotto was on a good road with me until he had the f*cking cheek to say that the London Dance Scene didn't know what music was, as if he invented Electronic Dance music.

F*ck right off you brown-nosed Italian twat, it was a British label that made you WHO YOU ARE TODAY - He would have got NOWHERE had it not been for Nukleuz.

ROFL. haha, thanx for that. Good stuff.

I haven't liked PVD in years. I still love some of his old original artist works, those were amazing. (For an Angel, Another Way, We're Alive, etc.) But in the last few years, he hasn't really impressed me at all.

Tiesto has definitely changed his style in the last year/year and a half. Still definitely talented, but we don't get those classics anymore.

With Ferry, I just love this direction he's going. Sort of a heavy 'tech trance' feeling to a lot of his newer works. He's definitely on top of the three.

As far as Armin, he's decent. But sometimes a little too 'fluffy' for me.

Ever heard of Nick Warren? He's pretty famous for his "Global Underground" Cd's. I instantly earned craploads of respect for him after hearing his "Reyjavik" GU release. Loved it. He's probably my second favorite at the moment.

Yeah I know Nick Warren, great producer.

PVD has some classics, don't get me wrong, it's just his attitude that lets him down, that and his music & DJ talent is total, utter sh*te now.

Armin is very fluffy, but he knows his place and I respect him for being a cool bloke, he's also decent IRL.

Tiesto, well you know my opinion of him.

Ferry Corsten is a lot more techno-y than most commercial DJ's, he really is borderline commercial / underground which is why I asked him about it.

ive lost interest in trance for the past several months now, nothing new or interesting to listen to. After the newer Markus Schulz, and Armin albums i stopped listening.
