Ferret pooped in computer case and it stinks.

Yeah so the ferret dropped a bomb in the case

Didn't notice till the Panaflos blew the stench out at start up


The offensive matter was wedged between the mobo and the bottom of the case

Got most the turd out.

Cleaned the case bottom with some windex


How can the bottom of the motherboard be cleaned?

It's right on some traces and in some header sockets

Don't be lazy, take out the motherboard and give the case and the motherboard a thorough cleaning. Otherwise it might get worse. Alternatively, if you live in a dry area, put the computer out in the sun and let it dry the poop out completely, and most of it should come off easily. However, taking everything apart and cleaning everything is probably the best idea.

First you need to trash the fans (i.e. replace them). Second you need to remove the motherboard and all other components. Thrid take the empty case and a large bottle of dish soap to your back yard and thoroughly wash it out. Fourth disinfect the case with one can of Lysol (not the Clorox version that leaves a sticky residue), and last you need a set of these.

Get some denatured alcohol. Take the mobo out, clean it, let it dry (should dry fast) and stick er back in. You should be good to go.

The thing about ferrets is that they are extremely single minded and stubborn. If it sees you do something, like open a computer case, it will know that it can be done and make it one of its missions in life to get into that precious shinny box with the cool lights and sounds. Plus they like to hide their poop in strange places. However, it sounds like your ferret is mad at you. Maybe you are spending too much time with your computer and it is getting jealous? Anyway, the smell is pretty easy to clean up; any household cleaner should do the trick.
