Actually, if the cop is writing you a ticket but you ARE NOT under arrest at the time, why can't you just drive away? If you aren't under arrest you should be free to go.

So, if you're driving and just caused a traffic violation and a cop car is following you with flashing lights and wants you to pull over, you would just keep on driving to your destination?

You're a shitty troll.

Allow the rich person's rights to be violated and the poor will cry out to allow it.

It's clear we have a bunch of poor sods here.

Hey bro, you are very confused with a moving and non-moving violation.

No one had their rights violated. Whether you like it or not, hitting a cop with your car when he's trying to cite you is a crime. This has nothing to do with the guy being wealthy. The law agrees with this, seeing as how the driver has had multiple charges brought against him related to this incident - yes, including assault.

The car clearly hit his leg. Granted, it barely touched him but it did "hit" him. That's misdemeanor assault with a deadly weapon everyday of the week. The dude was told to stop, didn't, struck him(whether he hit his foot or not is certainly questionable but did hit his leg so not really important other than the cop is playing that up), still refused to stop, so he was removed and arrested for assault. All because he thought since he money he didn't need to stop for the cop. I'm not seeing the issue. The car had no registration so for as far as the cop knew the car was stolen and the guy was trying to flee the scene. When given a legal order by a cop, due as told.

The officer ignored the driver, never told him to stop until he was already driving away...which he may or may not heard since he was inside his car already.

The officer should have spoken to the driver as he approached instead of setting up this situation in order to make an arrest.

From his perspective, what is the difference? If he's not going to arrest him, he can just keep on driving.

Oh wait, you're the guy that tacks on the extended warranty of his vehicle to say he paid $40k for it.

The extended warranty brings it to $45k.

You must pull over / yield to an emergency vehicle with it's blues on. That is the law. Once roadside if the officier doesn't identify himself with what you are being stopped for; you are under no legality to stay there.

If he is going to ticket you, you must wait for and sign the ticket...if he is not going to ticket you nor arrest you, you do not have to stay.

Outside your vehicle, you are under no obligation to identify yourself to a cop nor stop for a cop unless he suspects you of a crime and then once that is out of the way you can tell him if he wishes for you to talk to him he can arrest you and you will have a lawyer talk to him.

This cop should never have attempted to detain the driver by blocking his car with his body. He should have told the driver directly he must wait as he was being citationed.

The driver was totally setup. At the same time, he should have just waited in the car and then contacted an attorney about the situation.

It's clear you hate the wealthy and want them punished and want to give too much authority to our police.

Some people really love to bring drama into their lives. I mean if you see a cop standing next to your car writing a ticket, shut the fuck up, ask about the situation politely, take your ticket like a man. Hand ticket to attorney and move on with life.

I have had my share of tickets, I just send it to the attorney and pay the fees. Life is to short to fuck around with minor shit like that or to get all pissed about it.

Police say that before the amateur began filming, Chabbott grabbed the ticket book from the cop and ignored orders to stay on the sidewalk.

Chabbott was illegally parked and the Spider had no registration or inspection stickers displayed. The car also lacked a front license plate. He was charged with assault, vehicular assault, obstructing governmental administration and disorderly conduct.

Yes. If there's any justice in the world he'll serve jail time.

not sure why you thought the need to post my car purchase here bro.

What is your malfunction?

Well...you said the extended warranty brought it to 45k. He proved you were lying.

You're lying to us about some things on the forum, and then ask for credibility for other things.

What's your malfunction?

Hmm not sure what you mean.

The car was $36990, that's not the out of door price.

Taxes, shipping, etc.

Taxes are 2400

Shipping the car was another $1200

The warranty was $5300.

so where the fuck am I lying?

Dumbass posted it in his own thread - http://forums.anandtech.com/showpost.php?p=32609635&postcount=41

And who the hell adds taxes and extended warranty to the price of their vehicle? Only those that want to brag. When people ask other's what they paid for their vehicle, most folks tell you the price of the vehicle only that they negotiated with the seller; a means to compare.

We have been through this. I don't know anyone that quotes anything but the out the door price. Stating only the base price is useless with every dealer having their own fees and add-ons.

You may get a typical car like a Corolla for $16k at two different dealerships for identical cars, but at one you end up paying $20k and the other $22k out the door.

Also I was not including my warranty, that brings the total purchase price to $45k.

The car was $36990, delivery was $1200, taxes/tag were $2500, the warranty was $5300.

The car is just as good as any 2 year old E92 at this point with it having only 25,000 miles on it and actually has a better warranty now.

I really really hate to break it to you but most people aren't buying even $37k cars. Also it was a bargain compared to the S5 I was looking at and I like it much better (my coworker just bought the limited edition S5 around Feb this year as well).

It was in line with the Boss 302 I was looking at as well...

I am sure you are one of those guys that 'can afford that' too just like you probably believe you could 'afford' a Ferrari at $4000 a month if you lived in it.

The E46 M3 is one of the most iconic cars of all time, you making fun of one in pristine condition just shows you are either a moron about cars or one of the bitter poor.

Cop could have been writing anything. He could have been writing a ticket for someone else nearby. If he was writing a ticket for that driver, he should have said something instead of putting his foot under the tire.

He did, it's just not in the video that has been posted. The cop told him to stay on the sidewalk.

Ok, so you paid $37k for your car. Plenty of people here drive more expensive vehicles, live in more expensive homes and make more money than yourself but don't feel the need to brag/troll like yourself.

Next time, someone asks me how much I paid for my vehicle I'll be sure to add those costs.

So, as long as a cop hasn't explicitly told me to stop, I'm free to hit him with my car?

You'll notice, he hit the cop's leg well before he ran over his foot.

What the cop did was technically illegal. What you are allowing is destroying our rights.

Perhaps the backtrack shows more info, but the cop never identified himself to the driver nor gave him any instructions in this video.

A cop is not warranted to throw himself purposely in front of a vehicle over a parking ticket.

You are what's wrong with America.
