why was it dumb? minor injury for the cop, big consequences for the driver. sounds like the cop set him up to fail, and he delivered.

Could have easily turned into a major injury, and the perp just not stopping is enough of an offense is it?

In the end, the douchebag in cuffs gets off with a wrist slap, and comes home to a mansion full of supercars and supermodels.

The douchebag with a badge gets to be a meter maid for another 20 years before retiring with his third wife and a bottle of bourbon.

The fact this occurred in New York City explains the abundant rudeness and stupidity displayed by both parties.

How can anyone honestly side with this tool?

He was being cited. Cop made a point to stand in front of the car in an attempt to prevent him from moving. Tool disregards cop's placement - moves forward anyways. Partially runs over cops foot.

Regardless of whether or not he ran over the cop's foot, he should NOT have been moving his vehicle.

Umm... the cop told the kid to stop... the kid decided not to and ran over the cop's foot... Immediately assault with a deadly weapon, regardless of whether the ticket was valid or not... Kid got what he deserved.

You don't disobey a cop like that otherwise you get screwed... case in point. The kid should've discussed it with the officer like an adult rather than get in his car and TRY TO DRIVE AWAY...

You rub your smelly 40 IQ cop clothes on my Ferrari and I'll run over more than your foot.

i watched it a few times and the cop put his foot under the tire not once but twice. like a tire chalk, like putting his foot there would stop the car....

something is fishy. why was somebody recording a cop writing a ticket??? the car barely touched his foot but the cop is limping around like the whole weight of the car was on his foot.

fraudulent workman's comp case? Civil lawsuit against a rich guy for damages???

a police's job is a dangerous job. don't belittle the work that they do and don't make accusatory comments as such. video evidence was provided in OP.

go play in the street troll.

I'm pretty sure someone saw police ticketing a Ferrari and started recording. You can hear some talking right as it starts, so maybe there was some arguing/pleading or something beforehand.

I think the cop knew he was being recorded and after the guy tried to drive off did the foot thing to cover his ass so he could drag the douche out of the car and cuff him. While that's kinda shitty, I don't know that I fault him. The guy's lucky the cop didn't smash his windows with a billy club or pull a gun.

If the guy is rich enough to afford a Ferrari, he can afford a fucking parking ticket. Instead of being a dumbass and trying to drive off he should have just smiled his ass off and been overly polite to rub in how little this matters.

Just another one of those situations where someone dealing with a cop has to be a dumbass, which is going to push someone working a high strung job to be a bit of an asshole about it.

I understand a police officer's job is dangerous, but in this case...was it inherently dangerous or was he making it dangerous for himself?

Can you honestly say the situation of writing someone a parking ticket is dangerous? Officer was asking for an escalation of the situation.

Cops should not be allowed to act like that.

Let the kid go...you have his license plate number I'm sure, and tracking down a car of that kind would not be hard later on. Take him to court. Be the bigger man. You want respect? Earn it.

He just didn't like having his authority questioned. "If I say stop, you stop!" Citizens aren't dogs. We're not in the military.

Hope the kid gets a slap on the wrist and I hope the cop never walks again. (Not likely).

Siding with the cop on this one. The douchebag driving the Ferrari had too much of a sense of entitlement to feel that he deserved a ticket. Now he gets cited for assault, attempting to leave the scene, etc.

Officer was asking for an escalation of the situation.

Really? Officer was asking the guy to drive away? Pretty sure the dumbass driver's decision to start driving away was where things started escalating.

Even if he hadn't run over the cop's foot, he'd likely have been charged with obstruction, evasion, resisting, etc... Kid's a fucking idiot.

...then charge him with that?

I don't understand your point.

well you don't get to drive away when a cop is trying to give you a ticket. that is a good way to get arrested.

Both are idiots. the rich guy should have just laughed about the ticket and made some lame comments about how now he won't be able to afford another ferrari..oh wait yes i am! then ask the cop how about him?

instead he chose to try to leave..idiotic move.

If this was California, I would of guessed he was Persian.

"Baby I am VIP. I laugh at your tickets"

and yes, they do talk like that.
