Ferrari or Dodge Viper?

Recently made quite a bit of money from a company I'm running, and I've been looking into getting a new car. I currnetly own a 1999 BMW 325 xi. I'm looking for a 2 seater sports car, max price is 500,000 canadian (330,000 or so american).

The two cars I've been looking into are a) Ferrari Modena Coupe (300,000 canadian) b) Ferrari 550 maranello (275,000 canadian) c) Dodge Viper (100,000 canadian) d) Ferrari 550 Barchetta (500,000 canadian)

What cars would ya folks purchase? not looking for anything mre then a 2 seater, more for style then for power, although it must be quite powerful.

Is it just me or were the '94 vipers far better then the current ones?
 
in Europe they call the Viper "American Trash" personally that is harsh but a Viper is no ferrari 😛
 
I would have to say a 360 modena or 360 spyder... just because I love em. I really couldn't say no to any of those tho... I'd just take whichever I could get the fastest (IE same day 😉)
 
Well, I sitll have to wait about 2 months before I'd be able to afford it and still have enough to maintain my companies. Just due to the fact that alot of .com's are down and wouldnt want to jeopardize my company for a car 🙂

The reason I'm looking into a viper is purely cost. It does run nice though 🙂

Want to stand out in a crowd and get good gas mileage ?

I despise lamborghinis.

Although Barchetta is probbaly the nicest i'm not too sure if i'd spend half a million on a car, financially standing that'd be my max. But I dont want to be one of those over protective car owners who will cry if there car is as much astouched.

If your for real, then definitely go with the Ferrari. The 360 Modena hands down.
 
May I also recommend the Porsche 911 Turbo, Acura NSX, Corvette Z06, and Mitsubishi 3000GT VR4
All of thse will get you noticed and they aren't exactly slow 😉

One day I'm gonna have to make this "tough" decision on which exotic to buy... 😉

The onyl thing I dislike about the Modena is the front.

Currnetly looking into getting a 99 modena though, I'd save 50,000 or so and I just find it more appealing.

Thoughts?
 
Uh, see the sig. 🙂 Although I would probably not pay an extra $225,000 just to get the Barchetta over the Maranello. The wind in my hair would not be worth nearly double the price.

Someone in my area has a yellow Maranello, I can't keep my eyes off of it when it drives by. 😀
 
I think the 911 turbo would be a great car for what you want to spend. Great performance, AWD, a lot of creature comforts, and they look great.
 
im not a big porsche fan really...

If I got a barchetta I'd go tour de france racing edition, few thousand more but its stunning!

That is f*cking Mental. good god..

By cost, I'd rather have a 2002 Viper GTS which will keep up, if not be faster than a couple of those Ferrari's with amazing looks to boot, and obviously a sticker price way below that of any of the others.. I'd save A FEW HUNDRED GRAND, and buy a KICKING home theater, a few other nice cars (winter cars - BMW X5) and a few other essentials, (biggest baddest computer systems money can buy, etc..) and not spend so much money on a car. While I am a car lover, I do believe there is a freaking limit on what to spend on a car.. if you want speed and performance.. for 1/4 the price, a Viper CAN deliver.. BIG TIME. god think of what else you could have, if you bought a Viper instead.. soo sweet.
 
I've never had such a hard time choosing what I would like to buy, but then again, i've never bought anything this expensive before (excluding my home, but in retrospect a ferrari is like a 6-7 million dollar home. The top of the line 🙂 )

I guess its just the fact that if I pay this much I gotat stick with what I got, I've herad from alot of people that if I go for a modena I wont be content with speed (although it isnt that big of an issue) I find that rather hard to believe, corvette - dislike, nsx doesnt look unique enough for me I guess.

What about Mercedes?
 
Well, I understand where you are coming from. But keep this in mind, I already have a winter car (bmw 325 xi, 99 model) and also have a big enough home, I guess its one of those longtime dreams you want to fulfill where money isnt really an issue.

Knew I'd have some people who disagreed with the idea.
 
Uh, I don't think the speed of the Modena will be too disappointing unless you are driving some other supercar right now.

Ferrari 360 Modena/Spider
Mercedes Benz SL55 AMG
Porsche 911 Turbo or G2

Buy any one of those and still have money for an M5 or even something like a Lotus Elise. Any of those is a better choice than a Dodge Viper (Sorry, ViperGTS).

When I was starting up my company I was dirt poor, so I had to sell al lmy everquest stuff to start my company. So I made the e-mail to use to sell my account. Got 11,000 dollars for all the stuff along with theaccount and started my company 🙂 That 11,000 has gone a long way 😀
