sounds like real life in a way, too

In real life I think that men are degraded more then anyone else. I mean look at almost every commericial the guy is almost always portrayed as stupid.

yeah, but the difference is, we can take it. you degrade a woman in jest, and every female on the planet explodes in livid anger.

...that's because those of who couldn't care much about it don't pipe up (though everyone is usually up for happykitten/dezign/tomato pics 🙂), unless things turn into a fun flamewar.

L1As are not silent, either. Quiet, but not silent.

In every aspect of the internet that i've experienced, whether it be a counter-strike server, online forum, chatroom, or even news groups, I've observed that women are usually treated by males in two very different ways:

Guys either react with a "stfu b!tch" and develop some sort of irrational hatred and respond to every single one of their replies with a : disgust ;. They act as if all women are feminists, losers, and their presence on the intarweb must be due to their ugliness.

Then, there's the other end of the spectrum. In a counter-strike server with a whopping 1 female, the guys there were militantly defending her. You would be insta banned if you cussed, mentioned anything with sexual connotations, or said anything "degrading" to women.

Panaflo L1A's are silent.

thats how it is in society in general. there are the haters, and then there are the men who defend and offer help to gain favour.

I concur. On the first scenario, that's why, imho, 80% of girls who Counter-Strike play incognito -- at least, that's how I first started playing (online in-general).

#3: they ask for pics and don't give up.

(don't even try.)
I often see #3 combined with #2...that is, they'll militantly defend her in public and then ask for pics through PMs

On discussion forums, it's just a little different because there's all this discussion going on (I assume because I'm not a female). Here, nothing a female says can be wrong, and were she to insult a male's argument, it would be considered by most forum members to be instant ownership

Rule #1 of the internet:
Everyone is male until proven otherwise.

...a friend of mine convinced an entire TFC server that he was female until his voice changer stopped working one day, and he didn't notice. It lasted about a month.

Seriously. I pretty much just assume all 'women' are men pretending to be women for some nefarious purpose.

Did he try the infamous "Sorry, d00dz, my little brother was playing while I was in the bathroom" excuse to try and keep up the facade?
