It sounds pretty clear that this competitor is not female.

Pretty clear to me that the competitor isn't even human.

After watching District 9 I now too know it isn't human.

I haven't seen District 9 but if there is more of that thing in the movie, I don't want to see it.

I feel bad for this girl. If this type of stuff is so important, I don't know why they can't do the testing long before the event. If she is a woman, she has been put through the ringer for nothing. If she is determined to be a hermaphrodite, she is shamed on the most public of stages and the sport is not helped at all. This is not the Olympic spirit and should really be changed. The way they do it now just comes across as mean, cruel, and petty making the whole event disgraceful.

Questions for the board:
Many people on this thread and in other forums have made a point to give their own personal ruling that she is a man. For those who did:
1. Why did you feel it was necessary to make some kind of personal ruling?
2. If it turns out that she is a hermaphrodite, do you no longer consider her a woman?
3. If you were dating someone who turned out to be hermaphrodite, would you dump her?
4. If you were in her shoes, how would you describe yourself to other people: man, woman, or hermaphrodite?

Newb does not understand what OT means.

she has testes and produces triple the testosterone of normal women. she's not a woman. though she may not be 100% male either, I still think she should not be able to participate in "female only" sports. take away the gold too.

it would cost a ton ot do every women who participates. yes it is sad she/he is humilated on the world stage. its really not her/his fault. i do feel kinda bad for her.

how is it not the Olympic spirit? she had a unfair advantage over others. They had to make sure she was not a guy (wich she was..kinda). Sure its not fair to her but it is not fair to have women competiting against a man.

They did it the best way they could. its not like they could keep this private and no way they are going to run these test on every female that runs.

as for your questions they don't really matter. they are not really what the thread is about. if you want to ask those start a thread.

I've had my share of the crying game
First there are kisses, then there are sighs
And then before you know where you are, you're saying goodbye

One day soon, I'm gonna tell the moon about the crying game
And if he knows, maybe he'll explain
Why there are heartaches, why there are tears?
And what to do to stop feeling blue, when love disappears?

what could have happened is actually a genetic problem. by default, we're all female. the females have a dual x chromosome that is identical and there is not difference theoretically between them. in males, unless there is a problem, at around the age of three month, the y chromosome activates and begins generating testosterone. this is what deactivates the female system and makes us males. it develops all our male parts and so one. what can happen is that sometimes (this is quite rare but not unheard of) is that the x chromosome didn't activate at the proper age. instead, it activates much later. at the age of say...8. a girl who was...a girl until then but was genetically a boy suddenly begins developing into a boy can find it kind of hard. this might be what happened here. people like this often have there clitoris grow into a penis. they become much more muscular and they start growing hair in parts of their bodies that men do. then they often have surgery to correct it because they do not like their new appearance. I'm assuming this is what happened here. genetic testing will show us this...

So the test results are in. Wasn't this an eps of House? Lady comes in sick and it turns out she has testicular cancer.

It sucks that the press is turning this into a modern day freak show, but it has to be done to preserve the integrity of the sport.

I would agree. If a female athlete was caught taking testosterone wouldn't they ban her, at least temporarily, and take away her medals? I see no difference here.

Where it counts, she has more male internals than female ones, and seeing how much the affect body chemistry/development I don't see how heshe isn't banned from participation as a female.
