Was that her idea or yours? Either way, it was a very smart idea. :)

Are there any luters in your area? I have a friend that just got activated and is in New Orleans. He has already been shot at for trying to give some food and help. They picked up about 250 refugees and brought them to my little town in Oklahoma and they have already started causing trouble.

By the way I am happy to hear that you and your family are ok, It seems to me that you guys put forth some effort in staying ok.

There is legislation under consideration that would allow "victims" to access retirement accounts without penalties.

Grandpa = awesome

he seems like he was a pretty good bad ass

he used to drive a bus for grey hound, a guy in another car flicked off the bus or threw something at it (can't remember) and my grandpa saw him at the next rest station

he walked up to him and told him to apologize to his passengers, the guy flicked my grandpa off and said fsck you

then my grandpa grabbed his finger and broke it, then proceeded to tell the guy "you have a dirty mouth"

It's a practice we established when we lived in Florida, years ago. I think we saw it on television and it just became an annual thing.

So your family stayed at your office?

Any damages? Anything lost/stolen? What is the money for?

the money will help with what ever the insurence didn't cover

and congrats on being OK, just do us all a favor and spend it wisely

Agreed. Congrats on making it through.

Electronics would be the last thing on my mind.

Something I've beent thinking about. When something like this happens, do insurance companies not pay? They have to....don't they? Sorry never owned a home, only car insurance. Do they pay up to a certain amount?

when an F5 tornado took my grandpa's house the insurance guy told him he needed recipts for everything they lost... my grandpa told him your welcome to look through the neighborhood pile
When we had a break-in, our insurance company said no receipts necessary, but they only cover the going-rate for the item... like a 3-year old digicam would be a fraction of what you bought it for... etc.

Thanks! Yes, there were looters in and around my neighborhood, which is a gated community. We policed our own area since local law enforcement and 911 were both unavailable. Most neighborhoods now have signs that say "looters will be shot".

The incidents of local looting seem to be diminishing here. I'm north of New Orleans by 30 miles.

Thanks for taking in our sheeple. Feel free to assimilate them into your little burb. They will keep things exciting.

Yeah, good idea. Did you move expensive stuff (electronics) to the top floor? Or is that just as unsafe given the possibility of the roof coming off?

Yes, family stayed the first night at the office then I sent them abroad. Law enforcement was unable to respond to many emergencys and looters were common. I didn't want them to be in the area when I couldn't protect them.

Damage at my house was mostly to the roof and facia board (sofet) and then there was some stuff outside damanged too.....some stuff not coverend by insurance (kids trampoline, swingset, etc).

Some water damage in the garage that won't be covered by insurance and then there's the cost of the geneerator and 15 days of fuel for it.

Then there's the cost of food and shelter for the family when they were abroad.

Keep the receipts for the Generator and Gas to run i'm sure down the road they will reimburse you for it. Like they Did for us when hurrican charley hit lasy year.

We may have to put up some signs, Damnit I knew it was a bad idea when that damn Baptist church took them in..... hopefully they will all go to Oklahoma city and leave my community alone.

I only have one floor but I put my computers on top of a table in the event there was high water. If the roof comes off...there's no saving anything!!!
