Ok I posted something a few days back about ordering and item off of ebay. I told the guy i didnt feel comforatable about how he was taking so long to answer my emails. It took him four days from the original close date to just answer me what kind of payment he wanted. Then took two days to answer where to send the money order. It left me with little confidence that I will be even getting the item in a reasonable amount of time even if at all.

Now he's mad and will leave negative feedback, which is ok with me. I told him he can, but i want him to understand that it was him who made me feel that way. He also says he will take legal action.

He says that it took him a while because he had school and work, but I have work and kids and I was able to find time to get online and check if he had emailed me. What would he do if someone had a question about one of his auctions? If it takes four days for a response how will that make the buyer feel?

I've been scammed on ebay before so I am trying really hard to not get scammed again.

Am I wrong to feel that way?

IIRC he is obligated to contact you within 3 days of the end of the auction. If thats so, then even if he left you negative feedback I would think you could get it negated by ebay.

legal action? please.

For what? Have you refused to honor the bid? Didn't see that in your post anywhere.

<< He also says he will take legal action. >>

Standard hollow threat.

Don't worry about legal action! It will take him 20 years to file it. (Based on how long it took him to answer simple question)

What does his feedback look like, and how long has he been a member? Slow response doesn't automatically equal bad seller.

heh soon you will learn what I did, ebay is a pit of vipers, I was banned without chance to dispute because some guy thought you could put a computer chip in any type of motherboard, now I can't sell anything or buy anything, and their safeharbor email link no one ever responds to me.

Not so. Ebay will not erase a negative except under extreme circumstances. This would include leaving email or html links in the feedback, flaming ebay itself, or user distributing mass amounts of negatives within same time period. Issues regarding fake accounts, non payments, flames towards each other, fraud, or other disputes are ignored. Osama bin Laden could have bid on your auction, pay for it fraudulently, sent you anthrax, and finally left you a negative saying you are a stupid American and ebay would do nothing about it!

Ebay is suck

Don't all of you bidders feel like you're bidding against the seller in the last moments of the auction? I do.

If you are feeling especially cautious buying off eBay, you might try emailing the seller before the auction close/before you bid at all, and see how the response time and tone of response is. You shouldn't bid on anything without following through on it. The seller is entitled to leave a negative response, more importantly to report you as a non-paying bidder to recoup the seller fee(s). As mentioned above, you could always leave your 'rebuttal' about how you changed your mind or whatever.
