Command & Conquer 3
They originally had 3 screenshots when i first heard about this game, but this has some new ones, that first picture looks amazing, im expecting this to be a great game, also Mike Verdu the executive producer (mark skaggs replacement?) says some interesting things. The most interesting is:
"When you click, we want the game to react instantly - there's just no delay from when you give a unit an order and its response. We're setting a very high standard for ourselves - if you play a game that came out perhaps five years ago, it runs just lightning fast on a computer from the present day. It just has this delightfully crisp responsive feel to it, and that's the essence of what we're trying to get to."
A well coded graphically crisp responsive game from EA? Well... theres a first time for everything 😛 Its good they realise that though, as playing older games on todays systems is often actually better than playing newer games on todays systems as they run like crap somtimes.
Oh, and that shot of the city with the tiberium silos... wow.. amazing stuff.
Supreme commander dosent look half bad either
Im not as exited about this as it isnt c&c 😛 but it was mentioned in the c&c 3 review so i looked it up. It dosent seem to be half bad, Chris Taylor from the TA series is behind it, i never played TA but it was really good apparently, back in the days when RTS games were plentiful and generally pretty good, think 1998 (even if a few of the lesser known ones copied c&c)
The main website is Here Theres some really impressive screenshots of naval units etc on it. Its looking like earth 2160, except hopefully itll forego the rock paper scissors type feel that earth had.
Spore
Its been posted here before, this is another really good looking game, RTS seems to be back on track (this isnt an RTS i know, but as an RTS fan this type of game interests me and probably you too) and there seems to be innovation still left in the gaming industry as spore proves. I got no idea what to compare this to... all i can say is what with the abysmal quality of games on the PC today compared to back in 1998-2001ish things fir the first time in a long time seem to be looking up. FPS's are the only genre that have made any leaps since that time period IMO. RTS overall has been stagnant, with a few exceptions. Now if only they would make a starcraft 2 😀
If pc gaming was dying, i think its about to get revived 🙂 Ive not looked forward to a games release since red alert 2.
