Fellow darkies: how do you get rid of shiny skin?

My forehead, emphasized by my receding hairline, has been labeled a hazard by the state for it's ability to blind passing drivers. How do you lessen the shine? It's particularly bad after a fresh washing, so I don't think it's an oil issue - any advice to change my glossy finish forehead to a matte finish? The face cream I use seems to add to the problem once it dries.

In college my black friends used to use skin lotion but also baby powder.

If you're moisturizing an already oily part of your body I don't think you're doing yourself any favors though.

sandpaper?!

Edit - Sorry, thats totally out of order, but I have never heard such a thing before, very funny and very unPC

I always thought black guys used baby powder just to smell like diapers, in an attempt to attract ovulating white chicks. Learn something new everyday!

Just kidding, I'm down with the Wu-Tang, I swear. Baby powder - I shall try that.

What you need is a white towel to pat your skin dry every few minutes. Wear it hanging from your pocket.

QTF Just wash that oil / dirt / sweat off.

It's cool, my face wash is basically sandpaper. It's an "exfoliating cleanser," which means they basically charged me 10 bucks extra and mixed sand/dirt into the mix.

Any other ideas? Let's forget being PC for a moment, this is a real issue us darkies have to deal with!

Baby powder...if you use enough, maybe you can pass as a whitey! 😛

Being white is a dream that no amount of listening to the Goo Goo Dolls and watching Queer Eye has helped me attain, so I doubt baby powder will do the trick. Sigh...Maybe one day...One day... Sigh..

From my research and experience, it's actually due to the fact that you are using that face wash.

Using an exfoliating facewash causes your dead skin cells to slough off, in addition to drying it out to the point where your face will want to overcompensate by producing excess oil.

One solution is to use an oil-free moisturizer after washing your face. This will basically let your skin know it's not dry, and will produce less oil.

Other than that, if you are still having excess oil problems. You can obtain oil blotting pads from make-up aisle that you can routinely use to remove it.

Thank you for a helpful reply! I'm switch to a gentle cleanser and will get a new moisturizer as well..I've used those blotting pads/make up removers but I felt gayer than a hairy chested penguin using those while I was out. I'll get some for emergencies though.

How did Michael Jackson pull that off then?

Seriously thouh, have yuo though of the acne treatments? the chemicals in the oxypads/proactiv dry out your skin and seem to make my skin less shiny(I'm not black though my skin wasnt too shiny to begin with though.)

I'm pretty sure blackface makeup would work. Like The Two Black Crows.
