i had a roommate in college who preferred to sleep on the floor instead of the "beds" the dorms provided.
And by roommate, i mean me.

I sleep on the carpet a lot of times at home. However, my carpet is really nicely padded and comfortable so I guess it worked for me....

Did this in the computer lab a few times at school for programming projects.
