I do a lot of deadlifts, squats and I run so my lower back is always slightly sore/tight(not in a bad way) unlike other parts of my body. Anyway, the relief of lying down flat with a foam roller tucked under your lower back feels so good I just had to post about it.

It's like the farther I can bend backwards the other way, the more relief I get. I've gotten to the point where I could arch my back on a 65cm swiss ball with my heels planted and my head touching the ground. Some days at work, I'd even use the edge of my seat to arch my lower back to remove some knots. It gets awkward though when my coworkers happen to walk by and see me. :\

Best money I ever spent. Had mine a couple years and it's shown zero signs of wear and tear.

I actually had to buy one because my muscles are so tight that even the extra firm rollers weren't doing anything for me. They're not great to lay on or do exercises on, but they are very good for breaking up adhesions and improving motion. The points almost work like acupressure and I'm able to do a lot of good tack and stretch, general soft tissue, and even deep tissue work if I want to. The blue one isn't hard enough for me anymore, but they're too expensive for me to buy the black one as well.

I've been rolling for a while too and I think I'm ready for the PCV now. I can get all sorts of sizes for cheap.

If you haven't yet, roll your arms too. This will be painful, then pure heaven.

wow they're expensive :(

What surfs said. I wore out my old cheapo Target foam roller within 3 weeks of my first ITB issues. A good stopgap between the Rumble and the normal foam roller is The Grid from Trigger Point. Essentially some foam over what's essentially a PVC pipe.

I got a new The Grid from TP a few months ago under warranty - otherwise I'd have gotten a RR. I alternate between the TP and a marathon stick.

Note - RunningWarehouse.com sells TP for $39.95...you can save 15% off with my running group's discount code (BEERD).
